Synopsis

Synopsis Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man of many faces. A former Olympic athlete, respected educator and father of two, he's also Black Lightning, superpowered protector of Freeland. But Jefferson is not alone. His oldest daughter, Anissa (Nafessa Williams), is a med student, part-time teacher and social activist. She is also the Super Hero known as Thunder, possessing invulnerability and super strength for as long as she can hold her breath. Jefferson's youngest daughter, Jennifer (China Anne McClain), is a fiery teen who inherited her father's athletic gifts but not his desire to be an athlete. Jennifer also inherited his powers. Her body generates pure electrical energy, and she possesses the potential to be more powerful than Anissa or Jefferson. Lynn (Christine Adams), Jefferson's ex-wife, is fast becoming an expert in metahuman medicine. Together, the Pierce family fights the gang known as the One Hundred for the soul of Freeland.

Great show, shody treatment by Warner Brothers

Black Lightning is the best super-hero show on TV. Yes, I'm a wee bit biased on account of I created the character. But I don't BS when I praise or pan something. What's appalling, though, is the only one of the DC super-hero shows on the CW that isn't getting a general DVD and Blu-Ray release is the one that stars black heroes. Whatever your rationale, the optics on this are disgusting. Do the right thing and release both the DVD and a Blu-Ray versions of the second season in general release. The MOD release is BS.

GIVE US BLU RAY!!

I used to buy your shows all on DVD, then one day I upgraded and repurchased them all on Blu-ray. I have Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, Krypton, Titans, Black Lightning season 1 all up to date and all blu ray. As a collector I have them on display. Constantine DVD throws it off already, but to put season 2 of Black Lightning on DVD is both lazy and an insult. I refuse to buy this DVD until this issue is fixed.

Blu Ray Please

I, too, would like to add my voice to the Blu Ray mix. I have made a point of purchasing everything related to the "Arrowverse" on Blu Ray, including the first season of this show. The fact that you're only releasing this on DVD is highly disappointing. I understand that economics rule everything. But surely an "on demand" Blu Ray can't be that much more expensive to have available. I encourage you to re-consider. I won't purchase this on DVD.

Do you want my money? Release BLACK LIGHTNING Season 2 on Blu-Ray!

Considering Season One of BLACK LIGHTNING was released on Blu-Ray, the decision to release Season 2 only as a MOD DVD is absolutely insulting to those who purchased the first season and currently enjoy the series on The CW. This series is filmed for HD, so why is only a downgraded option available? Please release this as a MOD Blu-Ray set!

Seriously?

Like other reviewers, my one-star rating is not for the show itself. "Black Lightning" is, in fact, far and away the best of the DC shows on the CW, full to overflowing with great actors and great ideas, brilliantly executed on every level. No, the one-star review is for the inexplicable and unacceptable decision to release Season 2 on DVD only, instead of Blu-ray. Seriously, a home video release that represents an actual downgrade in quality from the HD version that airs every week? Plus, I don't get how Warner fails to recognize how bad the optics on this are. I mean, ALL the DC shows with white leads get a proper Blu-ray release, while the ONE show with a black lead gets treated like something they found on the bottom of their shoe. It's completely ridiculous.
