I saw this movie on HBO in the 80's and have been searching for it ever since.
Thanks to Warner's Archive Collection for getting a hold of it, and making individual copies for a collector like me!

      Comments about Whoopee!:

Whoopee (1930) is a vehicle for the musical comedy talents of Eddie Cantor. This rare musical featuring the Goldwyn Girls, was filmed in 2-strip Technicolor. The quality of the dvd is surprisingly good. There are some very nice tunes including Eddie's hits: Makin' Whoopee and My Baby Just Cares For Me. Cowboys is sung and danced by a very young Betty Grable and chorus. The musical numbers were created by Busby Berkeley.

        Comments about Whoopee!:

have always enjoyed Eddie Cantor. This was the first movie I added to my permanent collection when we purchased our Beta machine in 1980. This DVD is the best quality of this movie that I have ever seen. It is great to finally see it in a pristine quality rather than dubbed from TV. My former copy was dubbed from Beta to VHS to DVD-R. This is a vast improvement. I only hope that the other Goldwyn Cantors are going to be issued.

            Comments about Whoopee!:

Whoopee is a movie I have wanted to have on DVD for a long time, and though I had seen it before, I'd forgotten how much fun it is. Eddie Cantor is great, as is Ethel Shutta, and the early Busby Berkeley musical numbers are classic. Plus there's a great Ziegfeld girl parade toward the end, with each beauty wearing an exotic outfit complete with headdress. The film is in color and it's a bit uneven in shading, but overall it's a good print.

The quality of the original print was great. Cantor is very funny, and Busby Berkeley's choreography knocks the limitations of early talkies into a cocked hat - or maybe a Stetson!
