" SLEUTH "
from Pasadena, CA
Comments about The Hildegarde Withers Mysteries Movies Collection:
Disc 1:Penguin Pool Murder:The print is quite damaged, really 'average image', black levels were 'fair' from time to time, sharp also, but the audio track is not 'so bad' but too low. It's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches and a few bad frame.Really average but watchable print.Murder on the Blackboard:The print comes with speckles, marks, and a few bad frames. However decent contrast, quite decent 'image', and quite good black considering the age of the film. The audio track was 'ok' also. Still a decent print.Watchable print.Murder on a Honeymoon:The print look like in "good shape": it's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches and a few bad frames, but decent contrast, and sharpness. However the audio track is just " little noisy" from time to time.. still a good print.Watchable print.Disc 2:Murder on a Bridle Path:The print look like in "good shape": it's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches and a few bad frames, but decent contrast, and sharpness. The audio track is quite clean and clear.Watchable print. The Plot Thickens:The print comes with speckles, marks, a few bad frames. However decent contrast, sharp 'image', and quite good black considering the age of the film. The audio track is clear.Watchable print.Forty Naughty Girls:Damaged frames, various marks and Vertical or Horizontal lines still the print is quite good: Black levels and contrast are decent . However the transfer is too soft or really "fuzzy" from time to time. The audio track was good. Watchable print.Recommended

"The Queen of the Old Maids"
from Radcliff, Ky
About Me Movie Buff
She's been called the "Queen of the Old Maids" and even if you have not seen a film by Edna May Oliver you may recognize her horse like face which made her a favorite for animators from the Disney and Warner studios to put in their cartoons, including Mickey's Polo Team (1936) and Porky's Road Race (1937). This is a collection of her murder mystery dramas where she plays teacher-turned-amateur sleuth, Miss Hildegarde Withers. They are good fun!
