I was determined to own some nice HP elements for my home, and was thrilled to hear that there was a sword replica available. But, I was greatly disappointed to find the sword drilled through and bolted to its plaque, ruining it's value as a replica prop (at least to me). As with the Lord of the Rings swords or Hobbit swords, or any medieval style swords, one wants badly to heft it, to feel its weight and length in your grasp and for just a moment, see through the character's eyes as they wielded the same weapon. For adult fans of the series, we were denied the option of using the sword in cosplay, or simply doing anything more than letting it occupy wall space. It's a lovely thing, if that's all you want out of it, but if you are looking for a prop replica, you don't want your replica nailed to a board. A "child-safe" version should be available for parents who don't care to teach their kids about blade safety, and in this the "affixed" one serves that purpose. But for those of us who have grown up and are well past such cautions, and those of us who want our replicas to be as readily experienced as the original, that version is more of an insult and a let down. I own props from several movies and replicas of more. If I want a replica, I want one that is as exact as I can possibly get, as as I recall, Harry didn't have to pry off a display plaque before using his sword.

Comments about The Sword of Gryffindor by Noble Collection:

I have never received a bad item from WB shop until now. So, so displeased with the quality of this sword. I can understand a small imperfection in manufacturing but this was truly poor quality control. I trust WB will rectify this issue.

          The display:
-The felt backing on the wooden display was heavily imprinted in two places.
-In one spot the felt did not quite meet up to the wood frame and it looks like glue is showing through.
-There are a couple small dings in the stained finish which has white color showing through.
-The worst is the obvious crack which appears an attempt was made to repair and stain over it. Didn't work, can still see and feel the crack.
-The "Harry Potter" sword guide was screwed on crooked so the sword sits crooked.

          The Sword:
-The grip and guard of the sword is gorgeous.
-The blade is only 3/4" at it's widest part and only 26" long, however, you need at least 52" of wall height to display the hanging medallion, case and sword.
-The name "Godric Gryffindor" is NOT ETCHED into the sword. I would have preferred to see the name run further down the blade and be etched in but it doesn't look too bad the way it is.
-Unfortunately, the large artificial ruby in the pommel is attached way off center, leaving a gap to the right.

Despite receiving a very flawed item, I do encourage any Harry Potter fan to add this to their collection. It really is very pretty to look at.

Comments about The Sword of Gryffindor by Noble Collection:

One of the best pieces of memorabilia I've seen in my years of collecting. Although expensive, I thought the blade was perfectly designed. I would have liked to put it on my own plaque based off the house crest, so I was somewhat disappointed with it already being attached to a plaque. I also noticed that the craftsmanship, while remarkable, is medieval in design, where as Hogwarts is supposed to be thousands of years old. Other than that, remarkable piece of memorabilia

The detail and quality are amazing; moreover, the display is almost museum quality. The sword is mounted in the display with an excellent safety feature which limits accidental removal. It is a wall hanging I am extremely proud to display.

Comments about The Sword of Gryffindor by Noble Collection:

As close to a true replica that you can find. I would like to get it sharpened, but I am afraid that it may destroy it due to the lack of width. I expected that it would have the H.P. logo, near the blade handle, but I am disappointed that " Godric Gryffindor" was NOT ETCHED into the blade, but was either painted or is a decal. All in all, well worth the investment, especially at a discount, because the quality is such that it should last a lifetime. Also, the sword is easily removable from the case without causing any permanent damage. Would be a beautiful accessory for a Holloween costume.

Comments about The Sword of Gryffindor by Noble Collection:

The "real" sword of Gryffindor would not say Harry Potter on it which is why I said not authentic. Also, the "real" sword is probably supposed to be bigger. That being, said, I love this sword. It is actually the perfect size to display on the wall. The whole piece works perfectly and I love the Gryffindor symbol on the display hanger. I have a Harry Potter library and the sword is a perfect addition!

The sword initially seemed smaller than that in the movie, but after re-watching them, it appears to be just the right size. The wall mount it came with makes this a great collectors piece, and looks awesome in my office.

Comments about The Sword of Gryffindor by Noble Collection:

This really is a cool sword, worth the money spent, has a decent feel and is quite attractive on the wall. Nice detailing on the handle.

It comes on a surprisingly nice quality felted mount plaque- real wood with a good deal of edging work. Also with a few modifications the sword is easily removed/replaced from its display.

Its definitely not sharp at all.....and clearly is not designed for actual field use as you might say though it does not feel 'fake'. Not a problem for me. My only complaint (which has been expressed in other reviews) is the sword is unusually narrow, almost like a fencing blade. I don't remember the sword from the movie being so thin. Also the 'Godric Gryffindor" lettering appears painted on. I personally don't like this, as I prefer the realism and the sword from the movie didn't have such commercial lettering with (tm) of course.
Nevertheless, happy with it and recommend.
