These serials are in excellent shape considering the age of the source material and truly set up all the filmed Superman's to follow.

Great to include the original Superman in my collection. The only drawback is the shipping time. One day became one week.

Comments about Superman Serials: The Complete 1948 & 1950 Collection (DVD):

To my knowledge, Kirk Alyn was the very first Man of Steel. By today's standards, this is an almost amateurish production but for 1948-50 it's great. I am old enough to have seen it (the 1948 one) in the theater. I knew that Superman would save the day next week but I still went back to see the next chapter.
The audio and video quality is excellent. If you are a nostalgia fan, I highly recommend this.

Comments about Superman Serials: The Complete 1948 & 1950 Collection (DVD):

I used this video to show my son how my youth was spent on those Saturday afternoons, how my friends and I hung onto the edge of our seats waiting for each episode. I was a teacher and often told my my students the best TV is the one we create in our minds, but if we have something to couple that with it gives us true excitement.

Comments about Superman Serials: The Complete 1948 & 1950 Collection (DVD):

This was the first time Superman came to the screen live, and it is a lot of fun to watch. Kirk Alyn plays Superman and Clark Kent to perfection, and it looks like he is really enjoying himself. As Superman, he is very athletic. Tommy Bond (Butch from the Bowery Boys) plays Jimmy Olsen, and Noel Neill is Lois Lane, a role she would later reprise in the Superman TV series. Lyle Talbot is outstanding as Luthor. It would have been nice to see Columbia Studios spend more money on these serials with better sets and so on, but they are still entertaining. You get two 15 chapter serials, "Superman" (1948) and "Atom Man vs. Superman" (1950) in a beautiful foil enhanced bookcase set. I had dreamed of seeing these for years, and Warner Bros. has made that possible!

Comments about Superman Serials: The Complete 1948 & 1950 Collection (DVD):

I saw these series when I was a child. Wonderful to turn back the pages of time and return to those those simpler times. I had forgotten how
good Kirk Alyn was in the role of Superman. He seemed to be really enjoying
playing the role. Tommy Bond, who I had forgotten was "Butch" in the "Our Gang" series, was also well cast as Jimmy.
