      Comments about Star of Midnight:

It was fun to watch William Powell with the delightful help of Ginger Rogers slam down the cocktails as if he were preparing for the future Thin Man series with Myrna L. -- well a movie fan can't miss it. And to think how " shocking" ,there is a shower scene with Powell . I thought only De Mille resorted to such tactics with his female stars --too much humorous fun.

      Comments about Star of Midnight:

Obviously "Star of Midnight" plays like a cousin to "The Thin Man" films - and while not as razor-sharp a screenplay as many entries in that MGM series, it is still very enjoyable entertainment. This film is one of Ginger Rogers rare ones without RKO co-star Fred Astaire, yet she holds her own nicely against William Powell. As for the video transfer, this is the first Warner Archive film that I have purchased in which the picture is quite soft. The WB Archive DVD of "The Ex-Mrs. Bradford," a film made only a year after "Star of Midnight," has a much crisper video transfer with better contrast.

        Comments about Star of Midnight:

Despite being a life-long movie buff, and a fan of both Powell and Rogers, I had never seen STAR OF MIDNIGHT until I bought this DVD. It certainly did not disappoint, and provided a grand evening of entertainment of 'whodunnit' fun. The stars have perfect chemistry, and the mystery unfolds against an elegant RKO-deco version of Manhattan that makes for irresitible enertainment.

DVD Presentation quality is top flight, as we've come to expect from Warner Brothers. Highly recommended to movie mystery fans of the golden age.

          Comments about Star of Midnight:

Watchable. William Powell drinks his way through solving a murder case. Needed better villains. Mindlessly entertaining.
