      Comments about Sitting Target:

If you like British crime thrillers GET CARTER, you'll like this one too. Great performance by Oliver Reed as one bad guy, similar to his bad guy role in Oliver.

        Comments about Sitting Target:

This film is somehow missing from Roger Ebert's Top 10 greatest British Films of all time. Oliver Reed leaves the audience wanting more... and unknown, Ian McShane adds even more flavor to this film classic. Edward Woodward could not be finer. Top shelf... all the way!

Hard-Boiled 70's Actioner. Why So Blue?

          Comments about Sitting Target:

I found this a very good early 70's action/thriller with good ol' Ollie Reed turning in a real doozy as an escaped convict out to seek revenge on his no-good ex-wife!

Enjoyable and nice to see it in widescreen. My question is why is there a blue filter applied to the entire film? Compare this with a European airing on TCM about 2 years ago and the normal tones skin tones seen in this version have been washed away by a dark blue filter, similar to Mel Gibson's Payback (which was purposely done).

So, what's the deal? Other than this it's an enjoyable bit of British action.
