    Comments about Show People:

One of the most cohesive silent films ever produced. Great photography, and the acting by Davis and Haines is fantastic. They work so very well together that you feel they are an actual team.

The quality of the film, naturally, is not perfect. There are a few short segments where the film has sustained damage, but overall the quality is very good. And the musical sound track fits well, even with coordinated sound effects.

You'll barely know that your watching a silent film. Phenomenal!

      Comments about Show People:

I found the picture quality quite acceptable regarding the age of the "film".
The print is quite damaged, really 'poor image',black levels were 'fair' from time to time, sharp also, only "the audio track is ok". It's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches, burn, and a few bad frames.
Anyway you can enjoy the picture after all.

      VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

            Comments about Show People:

One of the best films about Hollywood in the silent era stars Marion Davies who often gets a bum rap from people who obviously have never seen her films. She was an absolutely brilliant comedienne and you can't take your eyes off her. Her adventures as an aspiring actress in silent movies are hysterical and the film features cameos by many of the great stars of 20's. Beautifully directed by the great King Vidor, this film was more than a mere influence on THE ARTIST. Essential viewing and a real gem of a motion picture.

Wonderful silent film which hasn't been made available in many, many years. Glad it is back and worth seeing over and over again!

                  Comments about Show People:

I happened to see SHOW PEOPLE, THE BIG PARADE and THE CROWD within a short period of time and decided that King Vidor was one of the greatest directors who ever lived. SHOW PEOPLE is such a change of pace from the other two but I recommend seeing THE BIG PARADE first since the comedy references it at several points. And what a revelation Marion Davies is! Like many folks, I made the incorrect assumption that Davies was as untalented as her counterpart in Welles' CITIZEN KANE. Not in the least! There's a very good reason she was Metro's number 1 star at one time. I cannot recommend this film too highly and am thrilled it is finally available on DVD.
