Rise and Fall of Legs Diamond, The

Jack Diamond had the moves. Some were on the dance floor, where he earned the nickname Legs. Others were in the streets of New York, where he built a criminal empire in the Roaring '20s - and was the target of many gangland shootouts.

The transfer( widescreen all right) looks "OK" it's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches, and a few bad frames. the audio track is quite good:clear and clean.
            So very watchable print.
            RECOMMENDED!

Comments about Rise & Fall Of Legs Diamond, The:

The first thing you notice when you pop this dvd in is the exceptionally crisp widescreen pisture quality. If Warner Bros keeps putting out quality dvds like this, their made on demand video service will be around for decades to come. Oh, and the movie itself is highly entertaining too-Ray danton was never better, and sultry sex kitten Dyan Cannon, in one of her earliest roles, is truly memorable. Highly recommended!

Comments about Rise & Fall Of Legs Diamond, The:

In the late '50s-early'60s, when the US government stepped up its battle against organized crime, Warner produced a number of films about the nation's earlier big crime wave, the Prohibition Era. Two especially strong ones are AL CAPONE and THE RISE AND FALL OF LEGS DIAMOND. The latter is a gripping, well-acted crime drama, dominated by the under-rated Ray Danton in the title role. It features an early performance by Warren Oates as Legs's weak brother, and is a superb specimen of the directorial vision of Budd Boetticher and the unfailing eye of cinematographer Lucien Ballard. The film has been lovingly remastered and looks and sounds great. Highly recommended.

Interesting film. The first Boetticher film I've seen that wasn't a western.
