    Comments about Mrs. Miniver (BD):

This is one of the best-looking black-and-white films out on Blu-ray now. What a stunning image. The sound is great too---a little too dynamic for me at times. When the dialogue is soft, it's almost too soft, then when the bombs start falling, it's thunderous. Still, for a mono film from that era, it's a great soundtrack. If you are a fan of this film, the Blu-ray Disc is not to be missed. Truly outstanding.

    Comments about Mrs. Miniver (BD):

The sanctity of hearth, home and family, defendind it against and repelling the common invader would have been a simple enough synopsis of "Mrs. Miniver" which, on the face of it, appears to be no more than homespun propaganda were it not for the ringing endorsement of no less a personage than that of Sir Winston Churchill who felt the film did more for the war effort to buttress the moral of a benighted peoples than any low level bombing run across enemy lines. That may have been overstating things a bit but the film did generate a great deal of sympathy for the British by Americans abroad who had already entered the war. Now the WB has enhanced its prospects by releasing a superior print of the film in HD/Blu-ray.
