Comments about Mr. Lucky (1943) (MOD):

I own thousand's and thousand's of films from silent's to approx. 1955, and I know many of them well enough to be able to name the film title when I hear a few sentences of dialogue. I give you this background because I want you to believe me that you will most certaily enjoy this film! It was made when Cary Grant was starting his superstar run in the forties. He was at his best, and very comfortable in this particular part giving a great performance in this somewhat unusual role. The story offers a special part that you will remember forever, where he shares from his homeland of England, a handful of cockney slang phrases! RKO's 2nd biggest hit of 1943, a well-written love story; also a comedy. Find Grant running from the law, Laraine Day never looks lovlier gives a great performance. Charles Bickford, well, what can you say about such a wonderful actor that hasn't already been said! One REASON I reviewed this film, please write to Warner Brothers and ask them if this print could be restored. Honest, this film is a GEM and it well-deserves to have higher audio clarity.

Comments about Mr. Lucky (1943) (MOD):

"Classic film" fans already know this is an important film to collect.

What you need to know is:

          1. Very watchable print (good contrast, relatively sharp for a direct transfer DVD)

          2. Good audio

          3. Low quality DVD-R product (poor quality control, may not play properly)

          4. Worth purchasing during sale events only

Comments about Mr. Lucky (1943) (MOD):

I'm surprised that this film is not better known. Grant plays an amoral but charming character who dodges the draft and tries to steal war relief money. It is a bit of war propaganda film, but nothing is over done. The scene where Cary has a letter read to him is particularly moving. The film picture is a little grainy, but acceptable.

Mr. Lucky simply proves how great older movies were. They sure don't make them like that anymore.
