Liquidator, The

Rod Taylor plays Boysie Oakes, Agent L, who enjoys the swinging-London lifestyle perks that come with espionage but would rather not engage in the squeamish business of killing.

      Comments about Liquidator, The:

I saw this movie when it was first released in 1966. I enjoyed it then and still love it now. Rod Taylor is great spy material in this upper-crust spy spoof made when the original James Bond movies were so popular. He carries the movie along easily and the film has a lot of action and adventure, so I highly recommend it!

        Comments about Liquidator, The:

The transfer ( widescreen all right) looks pretty good. Better than I expected. It's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches, but generally it's a sharp, and solid image.Audio track is great too.
        HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

This film was one of many that came out mimicking James Bond. I love Rod Taylor, but I feel his talents were wasted, as the plot was poor and corney.

        Comments about Liquidator, The:

It would be several decades before MGM and Columbia Pictures would continue Ian Fleming's James Bond saga. In the meantime, at the height of the super secret agent craze, "the Liquidator" was at the forefront. In campy zaniness, it would rival such entries as Derek Flint from "In Like Flint"/"Our Man Flint" and Napolean Solo from "the Man from U.N.C.L.E." Rod Taylor proves that he is both an adroit comic as he is a dramatic actor ("A Catered Affair"/A. Hitchcock's "The Birds").

            Comments about Liquidator, The:

Only disappointment that are no special features (making of etc) or scene selection.

The trailer demonstrates how the studio had no clue how to market the film. That, combined with over a year sitting on the shelf during a dispute between MGM and British Lion, allowed other, lesser, "spy spoofs" to get onscreen first.
