The LACE 2 DVD SET from Warner Archives is a really good transfer to DVD. There are a few dust and scratches here and there on some scenes, but very slight and it doesn't interfere with viewing pleasure.

LACE was a television mini-series from the 80s, and was based on a novel by Shirley Conran. It goes from the 60s - 80s and follows the lives of three women who are friends in a boarding school when one of them gets pregnant. She has the baby and the three agree to keep it secret and to let the child live with a foster family, which was supposed to be temporary. They make a pact that whoever lands on their feet first will come and take care of the baby girl. But things happen and one thing leads to another and soon 20 years go by and the friends are no longer speaking; and neither of them has claimed the child.

That child has grown into a beautiful young woman named "Lily," who started out in blue movies and is now an international superstar, and she's come back to get her revenge on the woman who abandoned her so many years ago.

Although the mini-series is about 30-years old, watching it was a blast. From the beautiful locations including Paris and New York City to the wonderful clothes and set decorations, no expense was spared in filming LACE.

The story line is riveting and the viewer--like the main character "Lily"--doesn't know which of the three women is her mother until the very end.

Anyway, the story is a hoot and I'll watch the DVDs many more times just because it was so well done.

Picture quality is decent with normal 4:3 ratio.

The DVDs do not have "scene selection" but viewers can skip ahead and back in 10-minute increments by clicking the "next" button on their remote.

No special features, unfortunately.

Approximate running time for DVDs:
DVD 1 = 02-hours: 21-minutes
DVD 2 = 01-hour: 34-minutes

I highly recommend LACE if you like watching soap opera type shows about rich and beautiful people who are absolutely hateful to one another. Great camp/cult mini-series!

One of the most memorable quotes in TV history, "Which one of you b* tches is my mother?" was asked by Phoebe Cates (portraying the XXX-Rated star Lili) of the other three stars in the 1984 TV miniseries LACE. Bess Armstrong as Judy Hale, Brooke Adams as Jennifer 'Pagan' Trelawney, and Arielle Dombasle as Maxine Pascal also star. The famous question scene occurs at the end of disc 1 and is repeated at the beginning of disc 2. LACE II also is available. More of a "chick-flick", but I was engaged in the first half as the viewer follows the 3 young women on amorous escapades around the world. The fact that one of these three successful women abandoned her child and allowed her to become an international XXX-Rated star kind of made the rest of the story too melodramatic for my taste. But I think certain women viewers would love this sort of thing. I would only recommend this to some women friends.
