If you're really having trouble learning how to use this, then you'd probably make a terrible Wizard. All the moves require a few minutes of practice to master. I had no trouble syncing the various movements to the buttons on my control. After a day or so, I'm confidently waving my wand around changing channels, controlling the volume, and even managing the sound bar.

2 negatives I can think of.
1- Not all buttons from your remote can be programmed. For example, the "special" buttons on my remote are the 'TV' button and the 'Source' button. These change the TV between regular antennae and HDMI, AV, etc. These would not work with the wand no matter how many times I tried.
2- I wish there were more movements to program. Even if they got more difficult, I would rather have more buttons on my wand so I didn't have to reach for the remote every now and then.

Other than that, I love this wand. Well worth the money.

After programming with my personal computer remote control, the wand doesn't work reliably. Regardless of which motion gesture is programmed, the wand apparently only sends a single code transmission (eg, right arrow) to my computer's IR receiver which is insufficient to be recognized by an application (eg, PowerPoint slide show). Only 1 out of every 5 attempts on average is recognized. It may work ok for a TV or DVD (I didn't try with that), but beware that PC remote control is at least one example that is not suitable for this Harry Potter remote control wand.

It takes awhile to learn the motions. Even longer to program. Everyone who watches you use it wants to try it, then you have to teach them how to use it.

The wand does elicit the pulses upon movement, but I cannot get it to synch with a remote. I have attempted multiple remotes. I am at a point where I do not think it is me, as several have read the instructions and attempted to synch the device. I believe it is defective.

I bought it for my neice, who is a huge Harry Potter fan now. her Dad tried to sink it with their devices and it works to turn the tv on but not off then just stops working.

Very cool item but very hard to program, took 2+ hours to figure out and work properly. The video is good for a promotional video NOT an instructional one! Video makes it seem it's easy to program, not even close! Once my daughter and I finally figured it out, it works really good! Not all devices can be controlled, mainly the TV and surround sound system. Tried four other devices without success. Just take your time with it and you will enjoy it!
