Forbidden Hollywood Collection: Volume 7 (MOD)

Warren William, Loretta Young, Bette Davis and Edward G. Robinson star in four pre-Code sizzlers, where sins go unpunished and virtue is rarely rewarded.

Comments about Forbidden Hollywood Collection: Volume 7 (MOD):

Disc 1: The Hatchet Man

The Image and audio track are very good only some usual issue.
Very good print.

Disc 2: Skyscraper souls

The print is not so bad, still there are lots of white specks, a few bad frames, with some softness, and scratches.
However quite good contrast, sharp, and black. The audio track is just " little noisy" from time to time.. still a very good print.
Watchable print.

Disc 3: Employees entrance

The print look like in "good shape": it's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches and a few bad frames, but decent contrast, and sharpness. The audio track is quite clean and clear.
Watchable print.

Disc 4: Ex- Lady

The print comes with speckles, marks, and a few bad frames. However decent contrast, sharp 'image', and quite good black considering the age of the film. The audio track has some issue also. Still a decent print.
Watchable print.

RECOMMENDED

PS: All four discs are pressed DVDs and not made-on-demand discs.

Comments about Forbidden Hollywood Collection: Volume 7 (MOD):

Watching these classics made in the days before Hollywood actually had censors monitoting content is a real hoot. Delicious stuff. Mel Neuhaus' enticing reviews in the Examiner were right on target. Pure entertainment.

Comments about Forbidden Hollywood Collection: Volume 7 (MOD):

This is a great installment to the Forbidden Hollywood series. Skyscraper Souls and Employee Entrance are top notch films and I am delighted to finally have good copies of them. The Hatchet Man is completely unwatchable. I even sat through the entire thing just to see if it would ever get better; the main characters are not asian and it is quite evident; bad idea. The Bette Davis movie here is adequate; but Skyscraper Souls and Employees Entrance make up for the mediocre and the bomb.

Comments about Forbidden Hollywood Collection: Volume 7 (MOD):

Keep These collections coming. This is the best of the FB collections so far. Skyscraper souls is an Art Deco dream. The Hatchet Man is great drama with a shock of an ending. Warren William, Bette Davis, Loretta Young, Edward G. Robinson-what's not to like? Quality of the transfers is top notch.
