Sadly the print is really damaged, technicolor is rarely very good on DVD.Transfer looked a little faded. Decent sharpness, but slight fading . Contrast just acceptable, and good sound.
Low quality for a very good movie!
the film source print is in need of restoration!.
          However HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

            Comments about Fighter Squadron:

Nice colorful detailed transfer. Above average quality for a 1948 movie. Enjoyed the Warner Brothers scoring orchestra. And, of course, the stars in it are remembered today by all older movie goers: Robert Stack and Edmund O'Brien.
Lots of great actual gun camera footage, and one of the best movies with fighter pilot one liners while destroying enemy planes, vehicles and supplies. This movie was cemented into an iconic
air war film by what I saw and heard when I viewed it as a child.

              Comments about Fighter Squadron:

I have waited years for this film to be releaased on DVD. It is a terrific World War II film that incorporates lots of great shots of P-47's. The plot has been seen many times before, form 'Dawn Patrol' through today, of the rogue pilot who must grow up and take command as well as responsibility. Sure it's cheesy in a lot of ways, but it is a long overdue addition to the Warner Bros. home video library.

                Comments about Fighter Squadron:

I looked for years for a copy of this movie for one main reason, the many great shots of the the wonderful, rugged, huge P-47 fighter of WWII. The producers found an Air National Guard unit in the midwest using this aircraft and they are the ones featured in the film. There are few, if any, of them left today, so we get to see the old war birds fly again in this movie.

The movie that started my aviation writing/hobby/veteran researching. Only film with real P-47s closeup and flying gloriously. My all-time favorite fighter film.

                    Comments about Fighter Squadron:

Action-packed World War II drama with great fighter sequences mixing in combat footage. This film doesn't slow down one bit from beginning to end as it relates the U.S. air offensive over Germany and France in 1943-1944.

The technicolor cinematography is crisp and clear and the print from WB couldn't be better.

Energetic performances from film-noir veteran Edmond O'Brien along with able support from Robert Stack. Keep a sharp eye out for a young Rock Hudson making his feature film debut.
