Steve McQueen dumbfounds the industry

About Me Movie Buff

Comments about Enemy of the People, An (MOD):

It was four years since The Towering Inferno, Steve chose to appear in a movie that dumbfounded the industry, An Enemy Of The People. I can't think of any other reason that drove Steve to want to do An Enemy Of The People except to prove, maybe to himself to start with, and maybe to the public too, or to Hollywood, that he was more than just the physical type. The film was a critical disaster, and was withdrawn from distribution. However, some critics applauded the courage of Steve's effort. This is a good release of this movie, picture and sound are excellent. I personally do have some admiration for this production, and Steve's role in it, but nevertheless, it was something of a brave miscasting I would say.

Comments about Enemy of the People, An (MOD):

This is by far the best quality copy of this film out there. McQueen is terrific in a completely different role against type. A great find for Steve McQueen fans! The picture and sound quality are crisp and clean. Thank you Warner Archive for including this film in your stable of hard-to-find movies on DVD!

Comments about Enemy of the People, An (MOD):

Finally! THIS is what I had hoped Warner Archive would provide, a criminally neglected film in an official studio release. Warner Archive can play the same role for movie buffs that Follow That Dream plays for Elvis buffs: an outlet for small volume releases targeted toward collectors rather than the general public and/or casual fans.
