Conspirators (1944) , The

Negulesco and noir - a heady brew. Jean Negulesco proved his stunning noir debut The Mask of Dimitrios was no fluke by following up with an astonishing run of film noir classics.

Comments about Conspirators (1944) , The:

The plot to this CASABLANCA wannabe is rather meandering and convoluted, but the actors make for an entertaining viewing.

The print used for this release needed work.

Comments about Conspirators (1944) , The:

The print (is good) has some marks and specs and a few bad frames but overall this is very good presentation. The contrast is decent, quite sharp 'image' and 'solid black'.
Some minor issue with the audio track from time to time.
Watchable print.

About Me Movie Buff

Comments about Conspirators (1944) , The:

The Conspirators (1944) lacks any spark of originality. With each scene you are depressed anew by the dead weight of cliché. Through the fog of tired formulas you glimpse no hint of genuine human behavior. The picture and sound in this transfer are excellent.

Comments about Conspirators (1944) , The:

The Archive is slowly teasing out the Lorre-Greenstreet films! This one is about WW2 intrigue in Portugal. Class act all around, fun film. From Jean Negulesco, director of THREE STRANGERS and THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS. By the way, where is Warner Brothers' THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS? This is the second review in which I dare to pose that question!
