Great job by Warner Archive, I remember growing up here in Long Island and watching these films on WNEW Channel 5 on Sunday mornings! Wish the same care can be given to the "East Side Kids" too! I grabbed this set and Vol 1 too because the initial run are "pressed discs." I also bought two of the recent "Forbidden Hollywood" sets because they too were pressed! I will buy more prodect if they are pressed, would have bought the Andy Hardy set! Also with Warner's clearing the legal hurdle that stopped "The Desert Song" (1943) from being shown hopefully they will issue this title as a "pressed disc" it is an historical event to release a film that has not been seen in 60 years and the film deserves a top notch release!

I received one of the early-order full DVD pressings (rather than MOD discs). Very happy with that. Just wish that'd been the case with Volume 1.

Comments about The Bowery Boys: Volume Two:

Yes, it IS about time the Bowery Boys got their due. But I was leery about what kind of film prints that WB used to master these. After all, they marketed 6 films on VHS back in the mid 80's as "complete uncut features", when in fact two of them were not - SPOOK BUSTERS and BOWERY BUCKAROOS. Although I must say, WB made good on both of these features in the DVD box set, but SLIP-ped up on another one. There's a slight edit in GHOST CHASERS. It happens in the first couple of minutes when Louie is about to enter the back room of his sweet shop. We see him go to the door and hasn't opened it yet, when the next cut/scene is him already in the room. Why for heavens sake does this happen !?! Meanwhile what's ironic, the VHS version from 28 years ago IS UNCUT ! Go figure. Why didn't they just use the same masters.
And sorry to be critical another slight edit on IN FAST COMPANY from Volume 1, but there is an extraneous audio track during a fade out scene with Slip and Sach after Slip's cab has the tires stolen off of it. But on the Turner Classic Movie Channel, it is clean.
Slip would go crazy on these edits and say that it's positively gregarian !
But beware of other edits from other films.
When WB syndicated the films to A&E and Family Channel back in the 90's, IN THE MONEY also had an edit in it. The same edit turned up on a recent airing on Turner Classic Movies. We'll have to wait and see if it happens when released on DVD.
I do like, however, the 16:9 ratio on Bowery Boys Meet the Monsters and High Society on their latter 1950's entries.
So, yes these are the definitive versions unless someone wants to take on the task of fixing these omissions and re-press the disc(s). Wouldn't be the first time that a studio offered a replacement disc for a defective one. How about it Warner Archive ?!
As someone said in an earlier thread that they were tired of the old tired looking TV film prints. At least they were uncut.
Overall though, both sets are really nice looking and I would still recommend them to anyone that's a fan.
            THAT IS ALL !
