Comments about Boris Karloff Warner Bros. Triple Feature (MOD):

all 3 movies are clearly b films but have highly entertaining moments. They are very worthwhile due to the 3 varied performances of Mr. Karloff, who is always at the top of his game. Old time Hollywood fun and entertainment. I just love to be able to discover this kind of stuff.

Comments about Boris Karloff Warner Bros. Triple Feature (MOD):

First two flicks are solid programmers with Boris doing his best with fairly by-the-numbers scripts. Fun change of pace to see Mr. Karloff in something other than the usual mad scientist stuff, or buried under Jack Pierce's make-ups for his classic Universal roles. However, this DVD is worth it for Devil's Island. This is a great little movie, bringing to mind undertones of Shawshank Redmeption and many other great prison movies which came later. Boris truly shines here. Thanks for releasing these, Warner. Keep 'em coming!

" KARLOFF ALL THE WAY "

Comments about Boris Karloff Warner Bros. Triple Feature (MOD):

    West of Shanghai:

The print is damaged 'average image',black levels were 'good' from time to time, sharp also, but the audio track is not so bad. It's uneven in spots, with some softness and scratches, and a few bad frames.
Low but watchable print for a very old movie!

    The Invisible Menace:

The print is quite damaged, really 'poor image',black levels were 'fair' from time to time, sharp not really, it's uneven in spots, with some softness, scratches, and a few really bad frames.
The audio track( too low) is also really damaged.
    Low print!

    Devil's Island:

The print is not so bad, still there are lots of white specks, a few bad frames, and the audio track have also little damaged.
However average contrast, relatively sharp, and quite good black.
    Watchable print.

    Anyway Recommended.

3 rare Karloff films at one great price!!!
Warner does it again, Karloff fans have been waiting for Devil's Island (1939) and West of Shanghai (1937)to be put on DVD for some time,
they are 2 of Karloff's best non-horror films. The Invisible Menace (1938) is a nice little film, even though Karloff has top billing he has very little screen time.
