Comments about Clock, The:

This sentimental look back at servicemen on leave during war-time, might not appeal to everyone, insomuch as we've moved on to the high-tech wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Such remembrances of the WWII are often rose-tinted and "The Clock" is no exception. What the film did amply demonstrate was director Minneli's abiding faith in his bride to be Judy Garland as a dramatic actress as well as MGM's contract chanteuse. Critics were also adroit in their admiration for MGM's art & set department back in the day for that studio's recreation of Grand Central Station as virtually indistiguishable from the real thing.
