            Comments about Frankenstein:

I'm delighted that this largely-forgotten TNT version of the oft-filmed tale has finally made it to DVD. Eclipsed by the big-screen Kenneth Brannaugh version which came out less than a year later, many people either missed this one, or dismissed it as "just a t.v. movie." But don't let that fool, you. This Frankenstein has excellent production values (including the best score I think I've ever heard for a non-theatrical production), engaging performances, and a wonderful script that is more faithful to its source than most adaptations. Highly recommended.

                  Comments about Frankenstein:

This movie sits well alongside of Turner's other two great films, A Christmas Carol and Gettysburgh. It is a faithful adaptation which shows the viewer who the monster is (spoiler alert: Dr. Frankenstein) and provides a great oppourtunity for family discussion i.e., should the technical ability to do something be all that is required to make an attempt OR are there issues greater than mechanics to be considered?
