About Me Casual Viewer
Not worth upgrading from DVD yet. This blu-ray is a poor up-convert of the DVD and in some cases just a zoomed in view of the full screen DVD version. Very disappointed.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Why isn't the Blu-ray 1.33:1
I love the film but..The thing that bothered me most of all about the Blu-ray was the screen ratio. Eyes Wide Shut was filmed, and intended to be viewed 1.33:1 (square) which the DVD does. The Blu-ray is 16x9 1.85:1 thus some of the top and bottom of the image is missing ? They could have at least offered both options. If you believe the box gumph the DVD runs 153mins approx while the Blu-ray runs 159mins. Is there really 6minutes difference ?The Blu-ray is cheap to buy. Could there be a new release around the corner offering an improved re master and 1.33:1 ratio ?
