Comments about Brass Bancroft of the Secret Service Mysteries Collection:

4 fun filled action adventures starring our late President Reagan. Remember these were 1940's B movies with limited budgets and short shooting schedules. At best they are light entertainment. Eddie Foy Jr. his comrade in arms provides the humor. Great sound and picture quality. Good old fashioned family entertainment.

Comments about Brass Bancroft of the Secret Service Mysteries Collection:

I loved seeing this on TCM awhile back & was hoping for their eventual availability on DVD. I'm glad they're here, I wish they could be remastered for some of the most annoying defects, steadiness, some dirt removal etc. I wouldn't expect a full blown restoration, but a little effort in that respect would be appreciated. Beggars can't be choosers & I'm just happy that we have them available, no matter what the condition. I work in the restoration/preservation business so I know what time/effort/money goes into restoration. I also know that audience numbers generally affect how much effort and cost goes into a restoration of a film, meaning small audience = small effort. Thanks for at least making them available Warners.

Comments about Brass Bancroft of the Secret Service Mysteries Collection:

These are B movies, and not very mysterious. Low-budget cops-and-robbers is what you get, with cliffhanger thrills when the hero gets in a jam. If you are looking for early signs of Oval Office dementia or shape-shifting politics, you will find what you are looking for. RWR was a plug-and-play performer that WB saw as an all-American boy, tough or tender as required by inferior scripts. We wouldn't learn the depth of his acting skills for several decades. In the last entry we are treated to a view of his bare torso: not up to today's standards of he-man musculature, but typical of most Americans' underfed physiques during the Depression. That film (Murder in the Air) also mashes up the Secret Service, the FBI and a congressional "Un-American activities" committee. Filmed prior to the U.S. entry in WWII, the Nazis could not be mentioned--but "labor riots" were included in a list of sabotage events. It would seem the studio was already positioning itself against any charges of being unpatriotic, and it may only be coincidental that RWR portrays a double-agent here. But I digress: these are fun for kids (at 60 minutes and a low budget, they were not produced as major features) and anyone wondering if Reagan's hair was real. Torchy Blane is a better bet for snappy patter and crime drama.

Lots of fun seeing our former president as a Secret Service Agent! Film transfer quality is outstanding. I doubt younger persons will like it but for us "older" types, the movies were a lot of fun.
