Comments about Affairs of Annabel / Annabel Takes a Tour (MOD):

After leaving RKO, Lucille Ball landed at MGM, whose producers apparently didn't know what to do with her. Ball was given few comic opportunities at MGM, and though were stellar were overlooked for some reason. At RKO, Ball made "The Affairs of Annabel" and "Annabel Takes a Tour," which should have removed anyone's doubt that the lady could do comedy. The story, which seems strangely similar to Jean Harlow's 1933 picture "Bombshell," presents not only a stellar performance by Ball and her cast, but a plot that provides every participant an opportunity to shine. Lots of fun is to be had for anyone who views these fine pictures that preceded "I Love Lucy" by 14 years.
