      Comments about Adventure (1945):

During the golden age of Hollywood, moviegoers were especially attracted by star power. Cinema auteurs were not as well known as they would later be. In 1945, Gable and Garson were top stars, Rhett Butler and Mrs. Miniver together. In addition, director Victor Fleming and costars Thomas Mitchell and Harry Davenport, all of GWTW fame, were also on hand. High expectations with so, so results. The movie is rather long, the protagonists are so different, it becomes hard to
believe they may stay together. Despite the story involves ships and sea travel, the studio sets are too obvious for a current movie viewer, used to location filming. Not a win.

        Comments about Adventure (1945):

I have always read negative things about this movie, how it didn't generate the audience that was expected or how it fails as a film. However, after watching the trailer first, I couldn't help but sense the excitement that MGM was trying to produce by announcing Gable's return to the movies, and Garson being his co-star, and I was suddenly hooked! I really liked this movie because it had lots of action and a good love story too. MGM was doing its best to make its stars look almost too beautiful to be real, especially Greer Garson, but somehow I liked that too! Because of that it's a beautiful movie to watch, with excellent performances, and it even has its co-stars running through a cornfield carrying live chickens. Where else are you going to see that in a Clark Gable movie?
