Comments about Warner Bros. Big Band, Jazz & Swing Short Subject Collection (6 DVD Set):

only 2 out the 6 cds were even close to what I thought I was ordering. This was a Christmas gift for my husband who LOVES BIG BANDS and there was so little of big band music. He was disappointed because I could ony give him the order form on Christmas Day, which he was excited about, and then when the DVDS came and we started with nbr 1....well it was not at all what either thought it would be.

Comments about Warner Bros. Big Band, Jazz & Swing Short Subject Collection (6 DVD Set):

I was hesitant to buy this. I was pleased with the sound and video for the day. I didn't know they could do so well in the early days. If Warner Bros. brings out more I'll be buying them.

Comments about Warner Bros. Big Band, Jazz & Swing Short Subject Collection (6 DVD Set):

I was expecting to see big bands and jazz. What I got were bands being put in embarassing situations surrounded by third rate acts that made the bands seem irrelevant.

Comments about Warner Bros. Big Band, Jazz & Swing Short Subject Collection (6 DVD Set):

Between the Deluxe "Jazz Singer" set with hours of rare early Vitaphone shorts and this release with many more hours of later shorts there is a great deal of interesting entertainment from a largely forgotten era not to be had anywhere else. If you are interested in vaudeville, tap dancing, hot jazz this is where it is at. Hopefully someday the whole vitaphone series will be available for viewing. Great entertainment history. Many thanks to the Vitaphone Project for putting the record collectors and film restorers together. I have known about the shorts for years but to actually be able to watch them is a real treat.

This is an excellent historical look at the Great Swing bands of the 30's and 40's. It would be a terrific introduction to the next generations of how music should sound.

Comments about Warner Bros. Big Band, Jazz & Swing Short Subject Collection (6 DVD Set):

This collection of jazz short subjects from the 1930s and 1940s (for the most part) is a wonderful time capsule of the popular music of pre-War America. The musical performances are very fine and its great to see the old film footage. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys big band music.
