Synopsis:

In 1979, Gilda Radner threw a summerlong party at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre. Everybody came: Lisa Loopner, Judy Miller, Emily Litella, Rhonda and the Rhondettes, Candy Slice, Roseanne Roseannadanna. And many thousands of cheering theatergoers celebrating Gilda’s hilarious, knockout Brodway debut. Filmed by another award-winning stage/screen comedy legend, director Mike Nichols, Gilda Live showcases the comedienne’s Saturday Night Live alter-egos in edgy, crazy material not even the Not Ready for Prime Time Players were ready for. Also on hand are Late Night with David Letterman’s Paul Shaffer, playing straight man and playing up a musical storm, and Father Guido Sarducci, ever the irreverent reverend. Join them as the late, great Gilda does what she does best – be flat-out funny.

"Outrageously funny. Hip, flip and fresh." Clive Barnes, New York Post

"I'd pay money to watch Guilda do the dishes" - Joel Siegel of ABC-TV's Good Morning America

Comments about Gilda Live (DVD):

If you grew up in the 80's like I did this was one of those great cable comedy specials. I have the soundtrack album. I always wanted cable to rerun this....and they never did. My friend & I would play and replay the 'let's talk dirty to the animals' song off the record. Must have Gilda material-the Mick Jagger stuff is still great...but hands down the best part is her girl scout character bouncing on the bed and singing dirty words at her stuffed animals....priceless. Paul's Don Kirschner impression still makes me giggle. the soundtrack vinyl for this dvd goes for $30 or more

Comments about Gilda Live (DVD):

If you're a Gilda Radner fan, this is probably the very best of her performances to add to your collection. It's not Saturday Night Live, it's a stage show. She sings and dances and give you all her wonderful characters. She wrote some of the songs herself! A really great performance.
