Synopsis:

“Don’t fall asleep” -- words to live by for Elm Street teens. Not a problem for fans wide awake with fear (and glee) as they experience these first 8 Nightmare movies released from 1984 to 2003. Each features Robert Englund’s masterfully macabre incarnation of slouch-hatted, razor-fingered Freddy Krueger, who mixes wicked wit with even wickeder mayhem as he haunts teens when they’re asleep and most vulnerable. A newspaper article about children who died after having fearsome nightmares provided the real-life springboard for filmmaker Wes Craven’s breakthrough series. Perhaps that underlying reality helps make these shockers so unnerving. Or maybe it’s just that we all like a good scare…and that this series consistently, imaginatively delivers some of the best. I have always been a fan and wanted the complete Nightmare on Elm Street series. However, I found them too costly through a variety of vendors. When the new Nightmare on Elm Street movie was being advertised for 2010, I went online to look up showing times for my nearest theater. I ran across the Warner Bros. website while surfing the web and what do you know!!!! the WHOLE series at a VERY affordable price. I couldn't believe it. [...] To my surprise all eight movies from "A Nightmare on Elm Street 1" to "Freddy vs Jason" were included! [...] This is one of those things I will treasure FOREVER! They also did some cool bios on main characters, for each respective movie, by writing them as they would have during the year of release. One thing I am disappointed about is that there wasn't a collector's brochure inside with great still-shots. They did include a coupon for one free movie ticket to see the new 2010 Nightmare on Elm Street. The WB has definitely won over a new loyal customer! Great job Warner Bros. Studios!!! and THANK YOU :~)

Fantastic value collection BUT what is stopping me buying this collection is why on earth is Jackie Earle Haley on the cover? Small detail maybe but it would have been awesome to package these movies as 'the original franchise' and have a special Robert Englund as Freddy packaging in order to seperate this collection from the new film - a kind of goodbye to the old Freddy pack in order to welcome our new Freddy. Otherwise a good collection showcasing all the films in the original Nightmare on Elm Street legacy.
