Angus is fat, dorky and smart, a kid with an uncool pal and a crush on a cheerleader. Angus is funny, rowdy and triumphant, a totally cool movie with a dead-on eye and ear for the hilarious, heartbreaking rite of passage called high school. A great cast (including Academy Award® winners* George C. Scott and Kathy Bates as Angus’s oddball family) sparks this story about what happens when Angus is named King of the Winter Ball as a prank – and how he turns humiliation into victory. Angus, Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times, “delivers a rousing ‘up yours’ to all the snotty high school golden boys [and] a climax that I, for one, found wholly the equal of anything in Rocky.”

Comments about Angus (DVD):
"Angus" was a film i was looking for for a long time. I saw it in the theater in the mid-1990's, and haven't seen a VHS or DVD of the film until now. Thanks.
Comments about Angus (DVD):
Great movie. My wife and I have loved this movie since it came out in theaters. We had it on VHS but who has a VCR anymore. We could never find it on DVD and I got a tip from a user on Youtube that WBshop.com had it for special order and I went there immediately and ordered a copy. I hope in the future it will progress to Blu-Ray with all the bells and whistles (bonus scenes, subtitles, etc.).
Comments about Angus (DVD):
Been searching for this movie for quiet a while and didn't hesitate to order when I found it. One of my favorite movies from my adolescents. Not much for extras but if you love this movie as much as I extras wouldn't matter!
Comments about Angus (DVD):
DVD had minor scratches and smudges on it, but was still able to play.
Comments about Angus (DVD):
Loved the movie! Especially because Angus is all grown up now and has the most beautiful girlfriend!

Comments about Angus (DVD):
This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid and I am so happy it is on DVD because my VHS was getting worn out. This movie epitomizes the youth of the 90's and sends a great message about "fitting in" vs "being who you are." The concept of "The Bethune Theory" is absolutely fantastic and certainly shapes the way one looks at things afterwards. The story may not be the most original thing you will ever see, but that does not take away from the fact that it is extremely entertaining and worthwhile. Soundtrack is also great, including Weezer's gem "You Gave Your Love to Me Softly," which you won't find anywhere else. Great movie, everyone should watch it.

Comments about Angus (DVD):
I have Angus on Laserdisc which is 4:3 pan and scan. I compared it to this DVD release - the DVD is basically a cropped and expanded version of the 4:3 P&S. So, as much as I was missing in the 4:3 version, you are missing even more in this release. I really noticed it when watching - characted heads are constantly chopped-off at the top - very annoying. On the good side the video (16:9 anamorphic) and audio quality are not bad - better overall fidelity than my Laserdisc. I'll keep the DVD for now, but I'll pray that this gem gets a true widescreen remastered release sometime in the future.

Comments about Angus (DVD):
I just wanted to point out that this DVD IS in widescreen, contrary to what one of the reviewers said below. It's 16:9 enhanced, to boot. I don't know if this person is trying to discourage people from buying it or something, but I REALLY DO own this, and it REALLY IS in widescreen.

I have been waiting for ages for this to be released on DVD and it has finally come. This can be a life changing movie for many. Whether you struggle with your weight or being picked on at school or even if you are/were the bully. There is a great message in this movie and it was well taught. There is a bit of language but it adds to the realism of the movie without being overdone. I think Everyone will enjoy this movie.
