Beware Tabonga! On a remote South Seas island, no one is safe from this hideous…and unique…monster. Tabonga is part man, part tree, all doom. Formerly an island prince, he was unjustly put to death by a witch doctor. Now he’s returned to life with roots, branches and a vengeance. Against natives. Against visiting American scientists who investigate the tree’s radioactive green sap. Against anyone unwise enough to expect a tree to stay put. A macabre medley of creature feature, Polynesian kitsch and Atomic Age cautionary tale, From Hell It Came is the killer-tree movie you woodn’t want to miss!

Comments about From Hell it Came (DVD):
This film sinks so far below mediocre, I struggle to come up with a non-obscene adjective that fits. Puzzling that Warner would bother reissuing something this...this...BAD. Stilted acting, inane dialog, pitiful sets, silly costumes, ridiculous choreography (yes...choreography), and a rubber-suit monster that only small pets might fear...you get the idea. Throw in the standard flaws found in these 50's genre flicks (lame attempt to incriminate "radioactivity" in the creation of the monster, the usual bolted-on romantic subplot, and the monster is...a tree?), and you get a flick which might be useful as a drinking game (everyone chugs when the natives say the monster's name!) but should never be looked at while sober. Even at a sale price, I regret having bought this one.
Comments about From Hell it Came (DVD):
This is a silly but fun 50s monster movie about evil tree beast Tabonga. The titular beast uproots itself and goes after meddling scientists. It will have you reaching for your root killer! Far from being a classic, this is fun stuff for fans of black & white creature features.

Great transfer of a ridiculous movie-- I hesitate to give it 4 stars, because it is, as I said, ridiculous, but it's a lot of fun to watch, and you'll never see another movie like it! Tobanga!

Comments about From Hell it Came (DVD):
If you hate this movie then you must just hate life! This is what the 1950's was all about. When else could you have successfully pitched a film concept that revolved around a walking killer tree?!? The print is gorgeous: clean, clear and crisp with almost zero artifacting or edge enhancement; solid blacks and grays. Far better-looking than you'd ever expect a stinker like this film to warrant. And it's widescreen, too! WooHoo! Thank you WB Archive for making this wonderful, obscure gem available!
Comments about From Hell it Came (DVD):
Just a not well remembered gem. Im always looking for more like this one. I seen many movies growing up in the N.Y.C. area. At that time when there was no satellight and cable wasn't available yet. But its hard to remember all those movies from years ago. But I keep searching.

Comments about From Hell it Came (DVD):
I remembered staying up late Saturday night as a kid to watch "scarry" movies like this one. And I was scarred, too. As an adult, I have to laugh at how bad this movie really is. The characters and dialog are dull and the monster is fakey. It does bring back childhood memories. This movie should have appeared on Mystery Science Theater 3000, but never did. I love Linda Watkins' line about not being stingy at a time like this and gulps down a glass of whisky. Having a few drinks, like the characters, may help you enjoy the show. If you like watching old, cheesy sci-fi/horrors, this is the movie for you;) Monlith monsters and crawling eyes move over, here comes Tobanga!!!
