How bad is Ronald? The Wood family finds out when they move into a house with an extra the realtor didn’t know about: teenage Ronald, who’s been hiding in a secret room ever since he killed a neighbor girl. Ronald was a little weird when he entered the room. Now he’s creepy-scary crazy. And he finds the three pretty Wood daughters very, very interesting. A fine cast that includes Scott Jacoby (The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane), Kim Hunter (Planet of the Apes) and Dabney Coleman (Tootsie) maintains a nerve-tightening atmosphere of suspense as Ronald begins terrorizing the unsuspecting family. Bad Ronald. Great horror flick!

Comments about Bad Ronald (DVD):
Even worse that you remember! If you love bad movies, than this former ABC Movie of the Week is a classic! In fact, I have no idea why people my age used to describe this film as so frightening given the movie's VERY low body count and no real scares. Despite there being so little horror in this horror film, there is much in this film to mock and it makes a perfect object of ridicule.

Comments about Bad Ronald (DVD):
This was originally an ABC Movie of the Week and is based on a book by Edgar, Hugo, & Nebula award winning mystery and science fiction writer John Holbrook "Jack" Vance. It is a disturbing story about a boy hidden by his mother in a secret room under the stairs of her house after he accidentally kills a neighbor girl. When the mother dies, Ronald remains in his hidden room until an unsuspecting family with three daughters moves into the house. Then Ronald ventures out to 'play'. A truly unique concept that has since been used in other movies and TV shows. It creeped me out when I saw it on TV when it first aired.
Comments about Bad Ronald (DVD):
Some may be put off that the picture quality isn't as good as it could be. I actually think it adds to it. It looks just the way it would've looked when it was shown on tv years ago (remember when they actually showed movies on tv?) and it contributes to the creepy and moody atmosphere. The DVD did freeze up twice, but it was easily fixed. Too bad it couldn't have had more on the DVD than just the movie: maybe some promos from its' original airing on the ABC Movie of the Week, or even an interview with Scott Jacoby. But it is good to have it rereleased, nonetheless. Poor Ronald.

Bad Ronald first appeared as an afternoon TV movie, I think it was on ABC's 4:30 movie. Bad Ronald stars Scott Jacoby as a four eyed, bay rum huffing freak. His mother is equally freaky and on loan from Planet Of The Apes. She makes poor Ronald an ex-Lax chocolate cake for his birthday and it's all downhill from there. Ronald splashes on some bay rum (from what bay?) and a Sears leisure suit and tries to score some action at a local pool party. Of course Ronald is humiliated, on his way back to his lair he stumbles into a melonheaded girl on a sting ray bike, she starts to verbally abuse Ronald, so he gives her the cinder block treatment. Ronald bolts home to tell his mother, who expoldes at him, while Ronald gnaws an apple. With Ronald's medical career in jeopardy, Mother decides to hide him in a spare bathroom she calls the lair. Ronald is then subjected to strained beets, pimento loaf, hard boiled eggs and generic instant milk. If that's not enough to make him crack completely, Mother then cashes in her own chips following a gall bladder operation leaving Ronald to sink further into madness. He takes on the alter ego of Prince Norbert Of Atranta and decides to quit bathing and start stinking. At one point Ronald is so ripe his strench actually starts knocking airplanes out of the sky. Along the way Ronald snuffs out the old battle axe Mrs. Schumacher (who lives next door works as a part time beekeeper.)The movie ends up with Ronald freaking out the family who moves into his house, he puts the bag on the evil Duke and finally gets caught by the fuzz. The movie ends with Ronald eating turf from the front lawn screaming MOTHER!!!!!!!! Movies like Bad Ronald don't grow on trees, they grow under them!
Comments about Bad Ronald (DVD):
Bad Ronald was far from bad. However, I felt that the print could've been digitally remastered better. The production quality was poor. Yet the story was still entertaining, and sure brought back memories from when I first saw it on ABC's "Movie of the week."
Comments about Bad Ronald (DVD):
I remember this movie from way back as a kid and it freaked me out and now seeing it for the first time is such a small world from the last time which goes back when I was younger than a teenager. But it's pretty cool to see especially if you are in to horror. If your in to movies involving troubled and evil teens this is one of the best of a kind.

This movie creeped me out when I watched it on the small B&W TV we had. I couldn't remember the title for the longest time and had asked on an internet board what the name was. I'm so glad someone remembered! This movie is still creepy today.
After trying it on 2 players in my house, noticed on the box that it will not play on all players. I wish WB would've stated that somewhere on the DVD purchasing page.
