Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze © 1975/Renewed © 2003, Package Design © 2009 Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
Based on the first of Kenneth Robeson’s 181 adventure-packed Doc Savage books, Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze hits the screen with all its gee-whiz, gung-ho spirit intact. And its bold protagonist, who along with having a herculean body is also a surgeon, linguist and inventor, remains determined to do right to all and wrong to no one. Ron Ely (TV’s Tarzan) plays the strapping Savage in this high-camp, big-heroics tale of his trek into the Valley of the Vanished to confront the power-hungry Captain Seas (Paul Wexler). And behind the camera are pros who know how to get the most out of this entertainment bronze mine: veteran fantasy film producer George Pal (The War of the Worlds, The Time Machine) and director Michael Anderson (Around the World in 80 Days, Logan’s Run).

Great classic 70 movie not superfast paced but kept us interested

Good quality disk.
Comments about Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (DVD):
This is the only screen version of the pulp character. It was done in the 70s with Ron Ely as Doc. Ely was also the 60s tv Tarzan and did a neat job as Doc. If you have never read any of the books you will get all of the fill in you need to get invoved with the fun and characters in the film. I recimmend this to George Pal fans as it was the last film he did. I enjoy it still
Comments about Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (DVD):
Doc Savage is camp at it's best with an intriguing plot and cool special effects, a family movie and a crowd pleaser, Though it will never win an oscar, it is great escapist fare.

I wanted to see it again since I have not seen it since I was little. It had a good cast and looked great. When I saw the preview I thought Lorenzo Semple Jr. was a writer and I wish he did...

Comments about Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (DVD):
Wow! I had forgotten how bad this movie really was. I saw this on a Saturday afternoon and took a couple of friends in when I was in grade school and I remember getting ribbed for taking them along when the movie was over.
It's nice to see the film available, but hopefully, someday a remake will wash away the taste of this movie.
More of a shelf filler than anything else.
Comments about Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (DVD):
This is just as silly and fun as I remembered it, with nonsensical "science" and yeehaa action. The dvd was clear and clean, sound was good, and the only drawback was not much in the way of extras, just the trailer. I mean, George Pal had a lot of pull in those days, must have been something else, a bio on him, maybe on Ron Ely, would have been nice. A nice entry into my pulp/comic collection.

Comments about Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (DVD):
Never saw the film until WB released this. Can see now why so many genre fans bemoaned this version. Definitely has the hokey Batman TV series-type of treatment. Could have made a really cool action adventure film in the "Raiders of The Lost Ark" vein if it had been taken more seriously. Still worth a look and good fun in its own way. Is there really an un-released sequel to this film??? Good heavens, WB... Release that lost gem right now! BTW... glad to see WB continually tweaking the covers of these MOD films. This new cover art is worlds better than the original.

I got laughed at when I gleefully announced I'd finally found Doc Savage on DVD, but who cares? I LOVE this movie! :-D Doc Savage is overblown, over the top, ridiculous nonsense and 100% pure FUN!
