Synopsis:

My collectors box has alot of glue all over the edges. It was very disappointing. You would figure a collectors item would be built with more care. Next time I'm going to a store to buy somthing this expensive.

To help celebrate the 70th anniversary of the release of MGM's 1939 movie

version of Baum's "The Wizard Of Oz!"..Warner home video collection has rereleased the film on dvd again.

This dvd collection has the same features as the 60th anniversary edition.

But..this new set includes an original video tribute to the film's director:Victor Fleming and documentary honoring the surviving "Munchkin"actors.(The group were recently honored with a Star on Hollywood's Walk Of Fame and they were interviewed following the
cerimonies at The Grauman's Chinease Movie Theater).

The set also has on dvd for the first time..the NBC TV movie"The Dreamer Of Oz".

Which tells the story of struggles Mr.Frank Baum had in his many

ventures..even trying to get his book(Then titled The Emerald City)published by the biased corperate book printers of the day.

Until he decided to sell the rights to his second book"Father Goose"

and writer and publish the book himself.

The tv movie takes dramatic lisencse with Mr.Baum's life and career..but

despite these flaws..it is still an entertaining bio.

With some charming performances by John Ritter in the title role,Annette O'Toole as Baum's wife Maud and Rue McCallahan as her
biased and opinionated mother Maud Gage.

(The set also has a copy of the film's press book, a listing of the
film's budget and a special book that looks at the persons..who appeared
in the film)

For those fans of the movie and for "Oz"and film historians..this is a dvd collection worth having this Christmas!

"Mr.Wizard Man!".
