Do you have a question regarding Digital Products? To find a quick answer to your question, read through our FAQs below.
Q:What are the Minimum System Requirements?
A:Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP or Vista
Q:How do I install Active X controls if I have Windows XP Service Pack 2?
A:If you're having a problem getting the window for the download to initialize you may have to install a couple of Active X controls due to the fact that you have a computer with Microsoft's Service Pack 2 on your computer. This will take a couple of minutes, however, you should only have to do this one time, and it will apply to all future downloads from any of our sites. You will want to click OK to this first warning. Notice that the information bar above (between the URL address and the title of the video you are attempting to download) shows that you need an Active X control. After you click OK please click in the white portion of the information bar which says ""click here to install."" The system should then prompt you to install the following 4 controls: Download Control 3, Download Control v3.4, Service Pack for Visual Basic 6.0, and Windows Media Player 10 control. We recommend that if you do get this notification (and if you have Service Pack 2 on your computer) that you upgrade your media player to Windows Media Player version 10 (if you do not already have WMP 10 on your computer) as from our experience it functions better than prior versions of the player. You can do this for free at Microsoft by clicking the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx
Q:How do I download or update my Windows Media Player?
A:We recommend that you have Windows Media Player 10 or 11 installed on your computer in order to watch videos. Keep in mind that Windows Media Player 11 is only fully compatible with Windows XP running Service Pack 2. If you have a different operating system or are using an international language operating system we recommend you retain Windows Media Player 10 until Microsoft lets us know that 11 is compatible with a wider range of operating systems. If you don't yet have a media player installed on your computer or would like you upgrade you can do so by clicking one of the following links: Windows Media Player 11 or Windows Media Player 10 Please also note that you might be able to watch some files using Windows Media Player 9 and older operating systems such as Windows 2000 or ME, but we no longer support, test or recommend our products for use with these OS's or players.
Q:What is the difference between a Stream and a Download?
A:Streaming a film offers a near on-demand experience. There will be a bit of buffering and then your video will begin playing. Videos are currently offered in 2 streaming bit-rates: 300K and 700K (though some are 700K only). The bit-rate you select should be based on the type of Internet connection you have. The picture quality will greatly depend on the speed of your Internet connection. A streaming film will not take up any space on your computer's hard drive. Downloading, unlike streaming, will place a copy of the video's file on your hard drive. Downloading films from WBshop.com requires that you first install the CinemaNow Media Manager. If you have not done so you can click here to install now. In general, downloading a feature length film (90 minutes or more) will take anywhere from 1/2 hour to 4 hours to download depending on the speed of your Internet connection. This time frame increases as the encoded bit-rate increases. Most of our downloads are available at 1500K, but we do have a number of films which are encoded at lower bit-rates for faster downloading. Downloading films can offer a more stable viewing experience than streaming.
Q:How Do I Download a Video?
A:Downloading Rent Videos: Select the video you would like to watch by clicking on the cover art for that video. To the right of the cover art you should now see a list of the file versions available and a button which says RENT. Downloading Buy Videos Select the video you would like to watch by clicking on the cover art for that video. To the right of the cover art you will see information displayed about the size of the file you are purchasing and a button which says BUY. After you pay for your video(s) you will be taken to ""My Videos."" If you do not have the CinemaNow Media Manager installed you will be prompted to install it. This should only take a couple of minutes. If you would like to install the Media Manager now simply click here. If you have the Media Manager installed, select which PC you would like to download to under the “watch it on” section. When you click ""Download"" under the “Download it” column, the Media Manager will launch from the desktop of that PC and begin downloading the video. If you do not see the Media Manager, close your browser and it should appear behind the window. If you elect to download to another PC, you will see the download progress update within the “my videos” page. With our progressive download feature, you should be able to begin watching your download in about 30-45 seconds depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the length of the video you are downloading. Remember that your viewing period will begin counting down after the first time you begin to watch the video, not from the time you choose to download.
Q:What are "Rent" Videos?
A:Rental videos are titles which can be viewed on-demand. These titles are NOT part of any subscription plan. Rentals are available on a Pay-Per-View basis, and prices typically range from $2.99-$3.99. When you rent one of these titles you will be given a 24 hour license to view this film. The 24-hour clock for this film doesn't start counting down until you click "play." You can watch these titles offline, which makes them great for travel. You can watch these titles as many times as you want within your 24 hour viewing period but after the 24 hours is up you will be prompted by the Media Manager to renew your license to this film (by re-purchasing it) in order to watch it again. You will not have to re-download it to watch it, the new license will be recognized by the original file in your Media Manager. In order to access Rental films from wbshop.com, you must install the CinemaNow Media Manager. If you have not done so already you can now!
Q:What Are "Buy" Videos?
A:Videos in the Buy Tab are available for single purchase. These videos have an unlimited Click Here , which means that once you download this video, you own the file. Your purchase is a permanent copy of the file that will give you unlimited access to that file on up to 3 computers and or compatible portable devices (for most titles). You may store the file on a CD or DVD, but playback will only work on a computer where the license is stored. You cannot currently play this on a DVD Player or other computer. If you re-format your hard drive you may lose access to the license for your purchased video, however if the video is available on up to 3 computers your username and password will give you access to another copy of the video for your newly formatted computer. Most of our Buy titles are encoded at 1200K or above, and you will need at least 1 gig of free space to accommodate the download. Buy Videos require that you download the CinemaNow Media Manager prior to downloading the film.
Q:What Is the Download Period?
A:You have an unlimited download period. Videos you have not yet downloaded appear in ""My Media Manager"" under ""Download it."" Also, videos that you have downloaded previously will appear in this section with a “re-download” button. Once you have downloaded the video, you may wait as long as you wish to watch the video for the first time -- as long as the video has not expired from the website you will have access. Simply open the media manager by clicking on the shortcut icon on your desktop and click on “watch” from the library.
Q:What Is the Viewing Period?
A:The Viewing Period is listed once your video appears in My Media Manager or the Media Manager Desktop Application. You may watch your video as many times as you would like within its viewing period. Viewing Period for Downloads: For Rental Downloads the viewing period is 24 Hours from the time you first press play. Remember for downloads, the clock for your viewing period begins only when you play the video for the first time. Titles can stay on your hard drive for any length of time, and as long as the video is still available you can begin watching it for the first time any time you choose. The expiration date of titles is listed on the Video Details Page under ""general information."" For most Subscription Downloads your viewing period is essentially ""unlimited"" as long as your subscription is still valid. If you cannot access your download, simply return to the site and login to your subscription to watch the video again. Viewing Period for Streams: Free Streams have no viewing period as they are always available on the site. Subscription streams check to see if your subscription is valid as you press play, so there is no true viewing period on these files either, but you must be online and logged into your subscription account for this to work. Viewing Period for ""Buy"" Videos: For Download-to-Own and Burn to DVD videos the viewing period is unlimited and can be played on up to 3 PCs (and/or compatible portable devices).
Q:Can I Watch Videos Using a Macintosh?
A:At this time our content is currently only available for Windows users. The digital rights management (DRM) solution that we use to protect and deliver our content is not compatible with any other operating system. This DRM is the one that we feel is the most secure, and the one that is preferred by our content licensors. That being said, if you have an Intel iMac, Intel Mac Book Pro or Intel Mac Mini you have the following option: Using Apple’s “Boot Camp” public beta software, our videos can be enjoyed by Intel Mac users! Available as a download, Boot Camp allows users with a Microsoft Windows XP installation disc to install Windows XP on an Intel-based Mac®, and once installation is complete, users can restart their computer to run either Mac OS® X or Windows XP. Boot Camp simplifies Windows installation on an Intel-based Mac by providing a simple graphical step-by-step assistant application to dynamically create a second partition on the hard drive for Windows, to burn a CD with all the necessary Windows drivers, and to install Windows from a Windows XP installation CD. After installation is complete, users can choose to run either Mac OS X or Windows when they restart their computer. Windows information and configuration for CinemaNow can be found in the Customer Service section of the website. AVAILABILITY & PRICING The public beta of Boot Camp is available immediately as a download at www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp, and is preview software licensed for use on a trial basis for a limited time. The final version of Boot Camp will be available as a feature in the Mac OS X version 10.5 “Leopard.” Apple does not provide support for installing or running Boot Camp and does not sell or support Microsoft Windows software. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Boot Camp requires an Intel-based Mac with a USB keyboard and mouse, or a built-in keyboard and TrackPad; Mac OS X version 10.4.6 or later; the latest firmware update; at least 10GB of free space on the startup disk; a blank recordable CD or DVD; and single-disc version of Windows XP Home Edition or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later. When you start watching videos with Windows XP please check our other FAQs if you have further questions or concerns!
Q:Can I Watch Videos if My Computer Runs with Linux?
A:At this time our content is currently only available for Windows users. Unfortunately the digital rights management (DRM) solution that we use to protect and deliver our content is not compatible with any other operating system. This DRM is the one that we feel is the most secure, and the one that is preferred by our content licensors. We do hope that in the future we will be able to offer our content on multiple platforms. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Q:Can I Burn a Video to a DVD?
A:You can burn a copy of a downloaded rental or ""buy"" title to DVD for storage purposes only. These files are Digital Rights Management (DRM) protected, so you will only be able to watch the video on the computer or device on which it was originally purchased. The video, even though it is burned on a CD or DVD, will still be unavailable to you after your viewing period has expired. As such, storing video files to disc is not recommended for rental films because the viewing period is so short; however, we do feel that this is a good solution for storage of Download-to-Own files, as your viewing period is unlimited. Windows Media Player 10 sometimes does not allow burned copies of protected files, so you may get an error when using WMP 10 to burn the storage only copy of a title to DVD. Please contact Microsoft to help troubleshoot this problem. If you do use another program to copy your video file to a CD or DVD, the same rules apply with regards to playback. Currently you will only be able to play the file back on the computer where you originally made the purchase (where the license is stored). If you have any further questions or concerns please take a look at our FAQ's regarding Licensing. For titles which are allowed to be Burned to DVD and played back in a DVD player, you must purchase a Qflix DVD burner by Dell. This DVD burner comes with a special application that allows you to burn select titles to a DVD that is viewable on your TV.
Q:What Are Parental Controls?
A:Parental Controls allow any registered user to create ""sub-accounts"" with restricted access to channels or web sites. These restrictions can be based on either rating or channel. Setting Up Parental Controls is easy! While logged into your account go to ""My Account"" From the left-hand tool bar select ""Parental Controls"" This page will walk you through setting up a sub-account which will have restricted access to our website. Please enter a name for this sub-account for our records. Please enter an email address you would like to use for the sub-account. You may use your email address if you choose. Please choose a password that is DIFFERENT from your main account's password. After you have set up each sub-account, you can test to make sure you have the controls set to the level you prefer by logging out of your main account and logging into a sub-account. When you log into a sub-account simply enter your username and the sub-account password you have set up. To restrict access to certain types of content, please un-check items from the list provided which you would like to restrict. After you set the restrictions you would like, simply click ""submit"" and the new sub-account will be activated and ready for use. Please note that at this time only films on CinemaNow are given ratings. If you choose to not allow access to content that is ""not rated"" you could be restricting access for your sub-account user to any video which is not a film (and some films whose release dates were before 1968). You can find out more information about ratings at the Motion Picture Association of America.
Q:Downloading with Windows XP
A:When using Windows XP you must be logged into a user account on your computer which has administrator permissions for downloads from this site to function properly. If you do not have administrator access, you may experience problems viewing videos you have purchased.
Q:What Is Active X?
A:Active X is a set of platform independent technologies developed by Microsoft that enable software components to interact with one another in a networked environment, like the Internet. In addition to adding functionality within the browser (for example, by enabling Microsoft Word to be opened in a browser) Active X components can be exploited by malicious mobile code.
Q:What Is Broadband?
A:A transmission facility having a bandwidth sufficient to carry multiple voice, video or data channels simultaneously. Each channel occupies (is modulated to) a different frequency bandwidth on the transmission medium and is demodulated to its original frequency at the receiving end. Channels are separated by guardbands (empty spaces) to ensure that each channel won’t interfere with its neighboring channels. This technique is used to provide 50 CATV channels on one coaxial cable.
Q:What Does It Mean When Something Is Buffering?
A:Buffering is a part of Random Access Memory (RAM) used for temporary storage of data that is waiting to be sent to a device; used to compensate for differences in the rate of flow of data between components of a computer system.
Q:What Is a Cable Modem?
A:A special type of modem that connects to a local cable TV line to provide a continuous connection to the Internet. Like an analog modem, a cable modem is used to send and receive data, but the difference is that transfer speeds are much faster. A 56 Kbps modem can receive data at about 53 Kbps, while a cable modem can achieve about 1.5 Mbps (about 30 times faster). Cable modems attach to a 10Base-T Ethernet card inside your computer.
Q:What Is a Codec?
A:Short for compressor/de-compressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data. Codecs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo and Cinepak. In telecommunications, (short for coder/decoder) a device that encodes or decodes a signal. For example, telephone companies use codecs to convert binary signals transmitted on their digital networks to analog signals converted on their analog networks, the translation of a binary value into a voltage that can be transmitted over a wire.
Q:What Is a Cookie?
A:Persistent Client-State HTTP Cookies are files containing information about visitors to a web site (e.g. username and preferences). This information is provided by the user during the first visit to a web server. The server records this information in a text file and stores this file on the visitor's hard drive. When the visitor accesses the same web site again the server looks for the cookie and configures itself based on the information provided. To properly use our site you must have your cookies enabled.
Q:How Do I Delete My Cookies?
A:Deleting Cookies in Internet Explorer*: Close any open web browsers. Open a new web browser. Click on Tools. Click on Internet Options. Click the button which says Delete Cookies. Close your web browser and open a new one. Deleting Cookies in Firefox 1. Close any open web browsers 2. Open a new web browser 3. Click on Tools. 4. Click on Options. 5. Click on Privacy 6. Cookies must be enabled while using this site. Please make sure you have fully downloaded any purchases you have made before deleting cookies as you could loose access to your content when deleting cookies. If you have automatic cookie deletion set on your computer (usually on shut-down), you will want to turn this off when using this site. The Items in ""My Videos"" are controlled by cookies, so please be careful when deleting cookies!. *PLEASE NOTE: The instructions above will delete ALL cookies in your cookies folder. For security purposes it is a good idea to do this once and a while. Keep in mind however, that when you do this, any stored information on any website you frequent will be lost. It is a good idea before deleting cookies to make sure that you know all of your login/password combinations for websites you use on a regular basis. You may also delete individual cookies by going directly to the cookie folder on your hard drive. For our compatible operating systems, this folder is usually found by going to your C drive and choosing the folder called Documents and Settings.
Q:What Does Digital Mean?
A:Digital means discrete. The digital wave is comprised of a limited number of data points to encode information. In digital networks, voice is converted to a series of discrete samples that represent the original analog signal to be transmitted. Digital networks are fast, replacing analog ones as they offer improved sound quality, secure transmission and can handle data directly as well as voice. Digital networks include mobile systems GSM, D-AMPS, CDMA and TDMA.
Q:What Is DSL?
A:A method for moving data over regular phone lines. A DSL circuit is much faster than a regular phone connection, and the wires coming into the subscriber's premises are the same (copper) wires used for regular phone service. A DSL circuit must be configured to connect two specific locations, similar to a leased line (however a DSL circuit is not a leased line. A common configuration of DSL allows downloads at speeds of up to 1.544 megabits (not megabytes) per second, and uploads at speeds of 128 kilobits per second. This arrangement is called ADSL: Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. Another common configuration is symmetrical: 384 Kilobits per second in both directions. In theory ADSL allows download speeds of up to 9 megabits per second and upload speeds of up to 640 kilobits per second. DSL is now a popular alternative to Leased Lines and ISDN, being faster than ISDN and less costly than traditional Leased Lines.
Q:What Is Digital Rights Management?
A:Digital rights management (DRM) systems help protect the copyright of materials by defining how the content can be used and by whom. CinemaNow uses a DRM solution provided by Microsoft, Inc.
Q:What Is a Firewall?
A:A firewall is a set of related programs located at a network gateway server that protects the resources of a private network from users on other networks. A firewall, working closely with a router program, filters all network packets to determine whether to forward them toward their destination. A firewall is often installed away from the rest of the network so that no incoming request can get directly at private network resources. There are a number of firewall screening methods. A simple one is to screen requests to make sure they come from acceptable (previously identified) domain names and IP addresses. For mobile users, firewalls allow remote access into the private network by the use of secure logon procedures and authentication certificates. Most Firewalls will inhibit your ability to properly download or stream video, and can prevent access to certain channels on the site. It is best to set your firewall to allow any of the CinemaNow Family of Websites you are using frequently as trusted or accepted sites so that you can easily watch videos.
Q:What Is HTML?
A:(Hypertext Markup Language) - The coded format language used for creating hypertext documents on the World Wide Web and controlling how Web pages appear.
Q:What Does HTTP Mean?
A:Short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol HTTP is the underlying protocol used by the World Wide Web. HTTP defines how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions Web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands. For example, when you enter a URL in your browser, this actually sends an HTTP command to the Web server directing it to fetch and transmit the requested Web page. The other main standard that controls how the World Wide Web works is HTML which covers how web pages are formatted and displayed. HTTP is called a stateless protocol because each command is executed independently, without any knowledge of the commands which have come before.
Q:What Does IP Stand For?
A:Short for Internet Protocol. IP specifies the format of packets, also called datagrams, and the addressing scheme. Most networks combine IP with a higher level protocol called Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), which establishes a virtual connection between a destination and a source. IP by itself is something like a postal system. It allows you to put an address on a package and drop it into the system. However, there is no direct link between you and the recipient. The TCP/IP will create this connection between the two hosts so that they can send messages between them for a period of time.
Q:What Is an ISDN?
A:This is the abbreviation for integrated services digital network. This is an international form of communications standard for sending voice, video and data over digital telephone lines or normal telephone wires. ISDN supports data transfer rates of around 64 Kbps (64,000 bits per second) There are two types of ISDN: Basic Rate Interface (BRI) is comprised of two 64 Kbps B Channels and one D channel for transmitting control information. Primary Rate Interface (PRI) is comprised of 23 B-channels and one D channel (in the United States). The original version of ISDN employs baseband transmission. Another version called B-ISDN uses broadband transmission and is able to support transmission rates of 1.5 Mbps. It is this faster second version required by CinemaNow for properly viewing our videos.
Q:What Does Kbps Stand For?
A:Short for Kilobits per second, this measures data transfer speeds. A modem for example is measured in Kbps.Note that Kbps refers to 1,000 bits per second. Don't get confused between a Kilobit (Kb) and a Kilobyte (KB). There are 8 bits in a Byte.
Q:What Does Mbps Stand For?
A:Mbps this means Megabits per second. This measures data transfer speed (a megabit is 1,000,000 bits). Network transmissions are generally measured in Mbps. Don't get confused between a Megabit (Mb) and a MegaByte (MB). When spelled MBps refers to megabytes per second. Remember there are 8 bits in a byte.
Q:What Does MPEG Mean?
A:MPEG stands for Moving Picture Experts Group and pronounced m-peg is a working group of ISO. The term MPEG also refers to the family of digital video compression standards and file formats developed by the group. MPEG files can be decoded by special hardware or by software.
Q:What Is a Progressive Download?
A:This site allows ""progressive downloading"" of all of our videos. This feature allows you to begin watching your video about 30-45 seconds after you begin downloading. When you click watch now, you can access the portion of the file that has downloaded, even though the entire download is not complete. The quality on a progressive download is the same, however, you will not have fast forward or rewind controls as the file is still in progress. If you need these controls while watching videos it is best to begin watching after the video is completely finished downloading. Remember that your viewing period will begin the first time you click watch now (and this includes progressive downloads).
Q:What Does TCP Stand For?
A:TCP is Transmission Control Protocol. TCP is one of the main protocols in TCP/IP networks. The IP protocol deals only with packets, TCP enables two hosts to establish a connection and exchange streams of data. TCP guarantees delivery of data and also guarantees that packets of information will be delivered in the same order in which they were sent.
Q:How Much Space Do I Need to Download?
A:We recommend that you have at least 800 Megs of available space for a feature-length (90 minutes) rental video download which has been encoded at 700K. If the file is larger, like our 1500K Buy (and many Rental) videos you will need more space, we recommend 1.6 Gigs of free space. If you have chosen a Burn to DVD video, you must have at least 6GB of free hard drive space before you can begin the convert process. For all downloaded content you will first need to install the CinemaNow Media Manager.

Q:Why Are Titles Missing from My Videos?
A:If Downloads are missing from My Media Manager there are a couple possibilities: Have you scrolled down through the entire My Videos page? There are two sections to this page, so check to see if your title is listed under the bottom section labeled ""My Downloaded Videos."" Have you waited longer than 30 days to download your purchased video? If so the video has likely been removed from your list. You will have to re-purchase this title to have access. If this is the case please contact customer support to let them know the problem. Were you trying to watch a Pay-Per-Minute streaming video? If so, these videos will not appear in My Media Manager, but rather will utalize the AllAdultChannel Streaming Video Player for playback. Most streams on the AllAdultChannel are also available for Download to Own (Buy Videos). If you see the video listed but see that the Download or Watch button is ""greyed out"" this means you are attempting to access your video from a secondary computer. While you will see a list of all of your purcahsed videos, you may only download a video from CinemaNow one time. Please return to the original computer to which you downloaded your video in order to play it back successfully.
Q:What is a License?
A:Our site uses licenses to protect content. This allows us to offer streams and downloads to you legally. After you choose which video you want to watch, we deliver an electronic license for the film to your computer. Each License has a specific Answer Link. The viewing period for each video you rent or buy is displayed in MyMedia Manager as well as your Media Manager Desktop Application. Here are the types of licenses we have across our family of sites, and some general information about how they are delivered. Free Videos License: Any Video which is under the Free Videos tab will issue a Free Videos license to your computer in order to start playing the content. Sometimes, though rarely this will fail and you will get a message prompting you to acquire the license. Click OK if this happens and we will attempt again to deliver the license so your video will play. You must be online to view Free Video streams. Subscription Videos License: For any film which is available in the subscription tab, we verify that your subscription is still active and valid, and then we deliver the license to your computer when you choose to ""watch"" or ""download"" the film. You must be online to view subscription videos. Rent (Pay-Per-View) License: Any film which you must Rent in order to watch, receives a ""Pay-Per-View"" license. These licenses are delivered when you download your video to My Media Manager. After you click ""watch"" for the first time, the timer on the license begins counting down, and your 24-hour viewing period begins. You do NOT need to be online to view rental videos which makes them great for travelers. After the period of the license has expired, you must rent the video again in order to view it. Most titles will be marked with a ""renew"" button within the Media Manager Desktop Application. For these videos you will only have to re-purchase and obtain a second license, you will not have to re-download the file. Some content providers do not allow us to place a ""renew"" button in your Media Manager Desktop Application, and so therefore this video will be auto-removed once your viewing period has expired. If you find a rental missing which you would like to watch again, simply go back to www.cinemanow.com and re-rent the title. For these videos you will have to re-download the file to your Media Manager Desktop Application in order to watch. Buy (Download to Own) License Any film which you can Buy receives a ""Download-to-Own"" license. This includes Buy and Burn to DVD videos. These licenses are delivered when you download your video to your Media Manager Desktop Application. After you click ""watch"" for the first time, the license is activated. The license for these videos is UNLIMITED, meaning that you should not have to purchase the file again to watch it. You do not have to be online to view these videos as their licenses are ""sticky."" For most Buy Videos you have access to up to 3 licenses. This is part of CinemaNow's ""Plays on 3 PC's"" functionality. If you have a networked computer(s) or a portable device simply follow the login prompt when trying to access the file from a different location than you originally downloaded it to. This is especially helpful if you have recently re-formatted your hard drive.
Q:Why do I get a License Error?
A:There are some different reasons why you could be getting a license error when trying to play content you have rented or purchased. The license for your video has expired. You are attempting to watch a video after its Viewing Period has already expired. Rent Videos have a 24 hour viewing period, and this information is displayed in My Media Manager Page as well as your Media Manager Desktop Application. For most rentals you will be able to renew your license directly from your Media Manager Desktop Application. You will only have to re-purchase the title in order to renew your license, but you will not have to re-download. Some content providers do not allow us to offer the renew license functionality. You will see these videos disappear from your Media Manager Desktop Application when the license has expired. For these videos, if you would like to watch them again you will have to re-purchase and re-download the title. Most Buy Videos will play on up to 3 computers, so if you have lost your license (even on the original computer) you should be automatically prompted to login when you try to play this file from your hard drive. After you login, we will deliver another license and your video should start playing again. You have a corrupt DRM store. Sometimes the hidden folder on your computer which stores licenses can become corrupted. If you are getting license failures on every video you attempt to view it is likely your DRM store has become corrupted. Simply contact customer support by clicking the Ask a Question tab in the help center and we will provide you instructions for fixing your DRM store. You are attempting to view a video in a country for which that license is not available. In general we attempt to show you only the films which are available in your country. However, you may receive promotions or other links which point you to a film which is not available in your area. If this happens, we apologize, however you will not be able to view the film you are attempting to watch. Please contact customer support so that we can give you more information on your particular film purchase. If you are connecting to CinemaNow or AllAdultChannel over a VPN connection, but are in a foreign country you could have a problem viewing the content you have chosen. Please contact customer support and we can help resolve this issue for you. You have a firewall or pop-up blocker on your computer which is blocking our ability to deliver the license to your computer. Please add www.cinemanow.com and www.alladultchannel.com to your trusted site list before proceeding. Windows Media Player is NOT set as your default player for Video Files In order to make videos from CinemaNow play properly, you must have Windows Media Player installed on your computer, and it must be selected as the default player for video files. To change your settings: Open your Windows Media Player in ""full mode"" Click on ""Tools"" Select ""Options"" Select the ""File-Types"" tab Make sure your media player is the default for VIDEO FILES. If you have other players on your computer you may have to un-select them as the default player for video files to complete this process. You are not logged in as an ""Administrator"" when using Windows XP as your Operating System Windows XP only allows accounts with ""administrator"" permissions to download the necessary components to watch films from CinemaNow or AllAdultChannel. Before you continue, please log on to your computer under an account which has these permissions. If you are the only user on your computer, you are by default, the computer's administrator. You have manually changed the time-zone on your computer's clock, and it does not match the time zone of your IP address. Since licenses are based on the amount of time you are allowed to view a piece of content, manipulating your computer's clock can cause your license to automatically fail. Please re-set your clock to the time zone of your actual location before you attempt to watch another video. Your connection speed is too slow for the size of the file which you are trying to download. If your connection times out while we are attempting to deliver the license to your computer, your license will not be properly delivered and you will not be able to watch your film. Please contact customer support in this case so that we can refund you or offer you a coupon so that you can re-purchase the film and attempt to acquire another license. If you are attempting to download/purchase over a wireless connection it is more likely that there will be an interruption which will either corrupt the film's file, or inhibit our ability to deliver your license. For transactions and downloads we recommend that you use a hard connection. Watching an already downloaded file or streaming over a wireless connection should be no problem! Your computer does not meet our minimum system requirements.
Q:What Can I Do If I Get an Error Saying My License Has Expired?
A:If your license has expired on a rental you must pay for the video again in order to get a new license to watch the title. Remember that the license for your title begins ""counting down"" when you first click the ""Watch Now"" button from the My Media Manager Page or in your Media Manager Desktop Application, or when you click the ""Play"" button directly in the Windows Media Player. How this works: You Rent a film, download the film to your media manager desktop application and click ""watch now"" after the download completes. If the title has a 24 hour viewing period, you have only 24 hours from the time you click ""watch now"" the first time to completely view the film. If you try to click ""watch"" or ""play"" more than 24 hours after you have started watching the film you WILL receive a license error. You must renew your license to the film in order to obtain a new, valid license. Remember, you can keep an ""unwatched"" rental title on your hard drive for as long as the title is available on our site. The license clock will NOT begin until you click ""watch now"" or ""play"" for the first time. Titles listed as ""Buy"" have an unlimited license period meaning that your license should not expire. If you do experience problems viewing a title which you have purchased instead of rented please contact our support team and we will help troubleshoot the issue for you.
Q:What is License Delivery?
A:Sometimes, though rarely, when we attempt to deliver a license to your computer's hard drive, this delivery will fail. There are some things you need to check on your own computer to make sure that your license was not dropped because of the way your system is set-up. This information is available in FAQ items entitled License Error and General License Information. If license delivery fails, your only option is to notify customer support. We are happy to provide you with a coupon so that you can re-purchase the title at no extra cost. You will know your license has failed if when you FIRST try to watch the title you get one of the following error messages: You do not have the usage rights to view this content. Your License Has / May Have Expired This error usually includes a link back to the website. A License Is Required to Play the Selected Content License Cannot Be Found License Error 404
Q:Why Do I Need a License to Watch a Video?
A:We use licenses to protect our content. This allows us to offer legal downloads of content you want to watch. Our content is protected by Microsoft's DRM Solution (Digital Rights Management). For more information on this solution please Click Here . Part of DRM is license delivery. A license must be successfully delivered to your computer's hard drive in order for playback of the video you have rented or purchased to work properly. Most of this is done ""behind the scenes"" so that you do not notice that your computer is acquiring, and validating licenses for you to watch your content.
Q:Should I Back-Up My Licenses When Prompted by Windows Media Player?
A:YES! Sometimes when attempting to close a download or the Windows Media Player, you may get a notification telling you that you have ""Acquired a new License to Protected Content"" and this asks you if you would like to ""Back-Up Your Licenses?"" YOU ALWAYS WANT TO BACK UP YOUR LICENSES TO PROTECTED CONTENT (this is especially important if you have recently made a purcahse from our site) After clicking yes you may get a warning which says ""this folder already contains licenses, do you want to replace?"" You will want to click ""YES"" to this notification as well. This will update your license folder with all of your new information and ensure that when you go back to watch a video that the license for that video is updated. This helps prevent license errors and difficulty viewing content you have paid for on our site.
Q:How Can I use my Wireless Internet Connection?
A:Just a word of warning: Files from our site are very large! Please remember that downloading or streaming over a wireless connection to the Internet could cause the movie to not view properly. The reason for this is that unfortunately, if just one part of the entire file packet is dropped, it will cause the entire video file to be corrupted. We do recommend that in order to complete the download on a consistent basis, that you plug into the connection on your wall. However, that all being said, if you do still want to try to watch / download a video over a wireless connection here are some tips as to how to set up your wireless for the best possible performance! Optimizing your Wireless Internet Connection 1. Change the default SSID (Service Set Identifier) of your wireless router/access point. This is the name of the wireless network that you connect to from your computer. Most wireless routers come with a default name for the network (e.g. 'linksys', 'default', etc.). Check your router's documentation for how to change this to something unique (e.g. 'MyNetwork1234'). 2. Change the default channel your router transmits on. WiFi networking gear has different channels it can communicate on. Changing the default channel allows you to minimize interference from other equipment like cordless phones, televisions and microwaves. Most routers come pre configured to communicate on channel 6. Check your router's documentation for how to change this to a different number - try channels 1 or 11 to start with. 3. Use the wireless security. Current WiFi equipment supports WPA Personal encryption, which allows you to set a password that people will have to know before they can connect to your wireless router/access point. Enabling this will prevent unauthorized people from using your Internet connection and potentially slowing it down. 4. Place your WiFi gear (routers, access points, adapters) away from cordless phones and base stations. Alternately, replace existing 2.4 GHz phones with 5.8GHz phones, which communicate on different frequencies.
Q:What Is Electronic Sell Through?
A:Electronic Sell-Through is another way of describing the titles in our Buy Hollywood Hits and Bargain Bin sections. These titles are available for purchase on a download-to-own basis.
Q:Can I Play My Videos on Multiple PC's?
A:YES! For most Buy Videos wbshop.com allows you to play your video file on more than one computer or a specific set of compatible devices. To see if a video is able to be watched on multiple PCs just check the title details page just to the right of the cover art for that title. The Plays on 3 devices is not available for Rent videos. Available titles will have a ""Plays on 3 Devices"" graphic listed on the main page for that video. With our remote queuing feature, you can buy a title on one PC and then download it to any other computer you have set up with the media manager. Every time you download to a new machine you will use up one of your licenses. To Play a Purchased (Buy Videos Tab) Title on an Additional PC: Download the media manager software to all of your PC’s. Purchase your video. Choose the PC you would like to download your video to from the drop down box in the “Watch it on” tab. Click “download” from the “download it” tab. You will see the download process in the my videos page. Once the download is complete, you can go to the PC that you downloaded the file to and open up your media manager application and click on “watch” from the library. If you get a message that you no longer have any license copies left simply go to www.cinemanow.com and re-purchase the title. This new purchase will give you another set of licenses for that file. For more information regarding compatible portable devices please refer to answer #146
Q:How Can I Make My DRM Folder Visible?
A:Need to view the contents of your DRM folder? Follow these easy steps. Please note that in Windows XP when you ""show hidden folders"" this will apply to many folders across your operating system. If you choose this option, many more system folders will be visible to you and anyone who views your computer. You can always go back in and choose to ""hide"" your folders at a later time. Open Windows Explorer or launch My Documents. From Windows Explorer/My Documents tool bar: click “Tools” and select “Folder Options” command. From the “Folder Options” window, select the “View” tab From the “Advance Settings” list box, scroll down and: Click the “Show hidden files and folders” radio button (second radio button) Uncheck the “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)” check box and click the “Yes” button from the Microsoft “Warning” prompt window. Q:Which Videos Use Media Manager?
A:The Media Manager is used to help you organize any video you have downloaded from CinemaNow. This includes Buy Videos, Rent Videos and Burn to DVD videos. If you are a subscriber and you download a subscription video, this video will appear in your Media Manager, but will not appear in the list of downloaded videos on the website. The reason for this is that your subscription plan gives you a different license to your subscription download. If you want more information about licenses Click Here. Streams from Alladultchannel (Subscription, Free Videos and Rental Videos from Universal Studios) will not appear in your Media Manager. Streams from Alladultchannel can be launched directly from the site and will appear in your browser in our streaming player.
Q:Why Can't I Fast Forward in the Media Manager Desktop Application?
A:The Media Manager Desktop Application when viewing in everything except for Full Screen mode allows you to use the buttons near the Play button to skip ahead or back at intervals of 20 seconds. Or you can drag the slider bar ahead to skip to a different place in the video much faster. If you would like traditional fast-forwarding capabilities simply enlarge the video to full screen mode. In full screen mode you will have access to all normal Windows Media Player controls including fast-forward. Just remember, your video must be fully downloaded before you can fast forward/rewind or skip ahead.
Q:How Can I Sync My Video to a Portable Device Using Windows Media Player 10?
A:CinemaNow is currently compatible with the Archos™ 404 series (and higher i.e. 504, 604 etc...) players. We are working on compatibility with other players and this will be updated periodically. If you would like automatic updates, subscribe to this FAQ item by clicking the ""Notify Me"" button at the bottom of this FAQ Item. Any video under the Buy tab on which has a ""Plays on 3 Devices"" icon on the main details page will be able to be synced to your Archos Player. Please make your purchase via your PC and then download the video to your computer using the Media Manager Desktop Application. If you have an Archos Player and Windows Media Player 10 player please follow the instructions below to sync a video file to your player. If you have Windows Media Player 11 please review the FAQ item for Syncing with Media Player 11. Please note, Archos recommends that you upgrade to Windows Media Player 11 for the optimal syncing experience. Launch Windows Media Player 10 on your PC if it is not already opened. Make sure you are in Full Mode. To go from Skin Mode to Full Mode right click the player and choose full mode. Click the Sync Tab If the video(s) you would like to sync does not already appear there, click the Edit Playlist on the upper left of the Windows Media Player. Choose ""Video"" from the drop down of available files. Select the video(s) you would like to sync from the list of files by clicking each title once. Now that you have your Sync list, connect your portable player to your PC with the cable provided with your player, or a standard USB cable. Choose ‘Windows Media Player’ when prompted by Archos as your connection method of choice. You may also choose to make this PC the default PC for this player. Press the “power” button on your portable player if it is not already on. Once your device is connected you will see any files you already have appear on the right hand side of the Media Player Sync Tab Interface. If you would like to make room you can delete files from your Archos player by using the controls in Windows Media Player 10. When you are ready, on the left of the Windows Media Player Sync Tab, click the Start Sync button. Follow sync progress with the status bar. Upon completing sync, unplug your portable player. The video should now be listed within ‘Videos’ on your portable player. For alternate information please visit Archos Customer Support.
Q:Where Can I Find the .wmv files of My Videos Once They Are Downloaded to My Comp
A:You can always find your downloaded videos in your Media Manager Desktop Application, and this is the best place to view and manage your files. However, if you for any reason would like to go to the windows media file of your video directly you can go to the folder on your C drive where your videos are downloaded. From here you can double click on your files and launch them directly using windows media player for playback instead of your Media Manager Desktop Application. When you install the Media Manager Application, the default location for your videos is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\My Videos\CinemaNow. If you did not change this location when you installed the application you can find your videos here. The easiest way to navigate to this folder is to follow the instructions below: Click on your Start Button Click Run In the command box type in the following: file:///C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Documents/My Videos/CinemaNow This should open this folder and you should see all of your CinemaNow movies displayed as Windows Media Files (.wmv) To watch a video directly from this file simply double click on the movie you want to watch. If you changed your download location during install of the Media Manager Desktop Application and you cannot remember what folder you chose you can find this by following these instructions: Open your Media Manager Desktop Application Go to Tools>Options From the left hand menu select Storage Here you will see your download location listed. If the path is very long, you may not be able to see the entire path, but you will at least get an idea of where on your computer to browse to in order to find your video files. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact customer support.
Q:How Can I Update the Firmware on my Archos Portable Device?
A:If you are having problems successfully syncing videos to your Archos Portable Player, you may need to update the firmware on your device. The quickest way to do this is to visit the Archos Support Site and complete the firmware download for your device. Go to Archos Site (if you cannot click the link above, you can paste the following into your browser: http://www.archos.com/support/download/firmware.html?country=us&lang=en) The following instructions are directly from the Archos Support Site and CinemaNow has not verified accuracy. (Note also that Archos may update these instructions, so it is always better to visit their support site directly): Firmware is another name for Operating System (OS) or System Software. Below, you will find the instructions and the latest software to update your specific ARCHOS device. Step 1. Download the firmware to your computer When you download this firmware, your browser may warn you that the file 'could be harmful'. This is normal because some browsers are not familiar with files that have a .AOS extension and suspect that they could be malicious. These files are not harmful to your computer. Step 2. Turn on your ARCHOS device and connect it to your computer with the USB cable Step 3. Wait a few seconds for device detection Step 4. Copy and paste the downloaded firmware (.AOS file) to the ""root"" of your ARCHOS device. In ""Hard Drive"" mode, ( E: for example ) put the update file directly onto the ARCHOS icon. Step 5. Disconnect the Device Use the ""safe disconnect"" green arrow icon in the system tray before unplugging the USB cable. Step 6. On your ARCHOS device, click on ""Update Firmware"" From the main ARCHOS menu, click on ""setup"" or ""settings"", then click on the ""System"" icon, and finally highlight and click on the ""Update Firmware"" button.
Q:What if my device syncs with another Windows Media Player library?
A:Please note: The information in this answer was copied directly from the Microsoft Support Website. We cannot verify the accuracy of this information, and additional information (since the time this was posted) may be available directly at the Microsoft Site * If you connect a device to your computer that already syncs with a different Windows Media Player library, you can choose to sync to the current library temporarily, or you can choose to switch the device to sync to the current library permanently. If you choose to sync temporarily only, certain Player features are not available. For example, any changes to the media information on the device will not be copied to the file in the library. Also, the library that has the permanent sync partnership with the device will not be able to remove any files added in the current session, and you must manually remove the files. If you decide to sync to the current library permanently, any existing files on the device will remain on the device until you remove them manually. To remove files manually, do the following: Start the Player, and then connect the device to the computer. If necessary, click the Sync tab, and then, in the Navigation pane, click the device. Right-click the file or files that you want to remove from the device, and then click Delete. *If you cannot click the link to Microsoft above you can paste the following in your browser: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/2d808262-9675-48d1-adc9-9f2a6e36f5a61033.mspx

For more information on the set-up process click here. If this link is not working for you, you can paste the following directly into your browser: http://www.cinemanow.com/pc-to-tv_on_xbox1.aspx.
Q:Can I Activate Closed Captioning on My Videos?
A:We do not currently offer closed captioning option for our videos. We are aware that the FCC regulates broadcast and satellite television to mandate that stations provide closed captioned versions of programming. We are also aware that most physically distributed formats (DVD, VHS, etc) provide this option as a courtesy to consumers. Our is transmitted via IP (internet protocol) and as such is not regulated by the FCC. That is not to say that we do not want to provide the most options possible for our customers, but at this time we the technology available which would embed this information into our files is lacking many key features. Our content offering and its capabilities will certainly grow with the development of this distribution method, but as of now we are not able to offer closed captioning on our content.

Q:Why am I getting prompted to install the Media Manager when I have already insta
A:If you have already installed the Media Manager and are being prompted with the installation page every time you click on ""my videos"" or try to download a movie in your queue, then this is because the installation was not successful. If you are working with windows XP, please try the following: Open an Internet Explorer Browser Go to Tools Then Options Then Security Tab Select Internet Zone Then Click the Custom Level Button From here make sure that all options having to do with active X are set to Enable or Prompt.
